I bought a neglected 91 KDX 200. Bike has bicycle handlebar, just to give you an idea of the abuse!!!

Anyway, I need to know what is the right spark plug for this bike? It currently has a NGK BR9ES in it and is horriblly hard to start even after a full carb clean up.

I also would like to know which brake pads to order for this bike. Dealer asked if it was a E1 E2 or E3? In the stamped code on the goose neck, there is E1 in the combination. Does this mean I should order E1 brake pads?

Thanks guys, I ma really looking foward to bringing this monster back to life.

BR9ES is the stock plug for a 91 KDX200. I know nothing about these bikes but the buykawasaki site identifies the 91 KDX200 as E3, I'm sure other KDX owners will be along shortly to confirm or debunk that theory.

The 91 is an E3 my 90 is an E2 and the 89 is the E1

An engine needs 3 things to start, spark, gas and compression. Does the bike have all 3 of these? Does the bike finally start? Once started does it run, if it runs does it run well? Food for thought.

Yeah, bike is hard to start but will start with some help. It runs like a champ too. Once warm it start on the first kick. But then it sits over night and is a biatch to start again....

Compression, fuel, spark and air.....its got all 4.

I'd be looking at a possible worn top end or worn out reeds.

Thanks, I'll look into the reeds since it easy enough to check.
