Plain bearing, anyone seen one like this?

I ran across this bearing in a CVT torque converter project that I am working on. It is the bearing that allows the movable face to work up and down the spindle shaft as the pulleys move.

It has an aluminum shell, with some sort of fabric (Teflon maybe??) on the working surface. I works very very well, and I am looking for a source, but I have come up completely empty. We are looking to spec and purchase massive quantities.

Does anyone have any experience with this bearing? Just knowing the correct name for it would probably allow me to find the source that is surely out there.

Any info is appreciated. I am attaching a pic.

Looks like a fork tube bushing? I guess they're copper/bronze with a teflon coating though, not aluminum. At least I've never seen an aluminum one.

What is your application? Maybe, the experts over at www.eng-tips.com could help you.

Search Google for oilless or self-lubricating bushings/bearings and you will get a ton of results. I haven't found anything of the fiber type, but there are many other types of oilless bearings.

Jon,
I think the correct term for that part is a Metal Backed Bushing. That one looks like a carbon fiber type. Find them in Teflon, graphite, ceramic, etc...

Got it!

It's a "Fiberglide" from RBC bearings.

Jay, thanks for putting me on the trail!!

And thanks to everyone who responded.
