Service Honda Junior-X?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Alright, I was browsing around and came across this awesome machine:
Service Honda URL /junior.html
250r in a cr80r... I really like this idea because of the weight, tossability, and power in a package that fits my size well. It is $8k, which seems very steep to me. So here comes the question - will a CR250R engine bolt into a CR80R frame without requiring extensive tig welding for mounts and other junk?

Thanks.

No.

I'm thinking thats on a crf150r frame not an 85.

Judging by a couple of specs I had thought it was an 85...

Wheelbase = cr85
Fuel tank = cr85

I may be wrong though.

The Junior uses a CRF150R frame but the 250R still doesn't bolt in. It takes a LOT of fabrication to make the finished product look like the factory design that Service Honda produces.

Hence the reason for the 8k price tag. Service Honda makes a great product. And I can guarantee $8k is less money than it will cost to buy a new 150R + buy a new 250R motor + mold them together on your own.

Plus, $8k really isn't all that bad if you consider a new 250F for about $6500 or so, then another $600-800 for suspension. And if you're short- the reason you're considering a Junior in the first place- consider that the Service Honda is going to fit like a glove. I've given one some serious thought, myself.

Yeah, but that one auction site in the bay seems to have tons of bikes parted out, which is why I was asking.

I wonder how often these come on the used market

They sell all they can make. Apparently some people recognize the value of a custom bike for that price.

Knowing how much work goes into each one, I'm surprised they can afford to sell them that cheap.

Once in awhile. I watched one in the Dallas area go for $6.5k used. A $1500 loss on a new dirt bike is better than par.
