Southwest SF???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

It's crunch time to get our Southern Admin back into riding shape and to get Team Tejas tuned in order to open up that big ole can in September. Any chance at getting the wagons circled for some practice before the 100 degree days hit? I for one volunteer to be a moving obstacle for you guys to practice passing (do my best Okie imitation). Need a place and time. How about the weekend of 6/30? Where? Looking for suggestions here.

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Hey that sounds like fun. Are we mxing or going in the woods? I'm not much of a mxer myself, so I probably wouldn't be much help there, but if you wanna go ride in the woods, I'm pretty big and can get in the way big time (ya know, for practice sake). I don't think that there are any races that weekend, so it should be clear for just about everybody.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

6/30 doesn't work for me How about 7/8? I'd love to go sooo much, but I'll be in Tennessee on 6/30

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Scratch that.... I think I'll be here, but will have to check with my dad. If I'm here, how bout Muenster?

Posted by: CC_RIDER---------------------

YEAH!

I'll be there!

And my son KTMKyd too!

Name the place and time.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Could you guys please considering changing the date to the next weekend of 7/8? ? I won't be available for 6/30, but will be for the next weekend, 7/8.

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

Stan,
the date doesn't make much difference to me. I was just trying to see since we have several DRN'ers in this area if everyone wanted to get together for a group ride. Chances are not everyone is going to Casey in September. We have enough people within a 4 hour drive from Dallas to hold a pretty big party.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Does that mean you'll change the date? PLEASE I'd reallyappreciate it if you would change the date to another week later. Thanks

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Doesn't make much difference to me, I'm game. Too bad I can't go to Casey in September though.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

So does that make it official? Are we having it on 7/8? Great! Thanks alot guys

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Ok, great, on July 8th, but where are we going anyways?

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

WooHoo!!! July 8th! Howabout Muenster I'd MUCH rather do trails than MX. My dad(XR Guy) has an XR 600, and is NOT about to go ride at a track all day. Since my dad will be taking me, that's a big factor

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Amen brother, my dad hates tracks too. Well I do too, but he does more and he's in charge. So Muenster on July 8th. Anybody else?

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

I am there!

Yes!!!

I won't be at the "big event", but I am gonna make this one for sure.

Where does everybody want to gather? How 'bout a wagon train for those coming from the N. Dallas area?

-jeffd

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

I can't make it on Sunday, but could on a Saturday. There is no TCCRA event that weekend so hopefully the cross country racers can join. If we make it a two day event maybe Patman and some of the Okie boys could join up. OCCRA has a make up date on that weekend so not sure if they will be available. Anyone interested in starting it on a Saturday?

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

I should be able to make one of the days (if it turns into a two-day event).

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

I think I could talk my dad into a two-day thing if it turns out to be pretty big. Should we all meet at a set place there, or should we meet in town somewhere?

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

Count me in for both days! I'll be flying solo since the wife and kids will have started our family vacation with out me...

What else am I gonna do? Work in the yard? Yeah, right...

-jeffd

Posted by: will pattison---------------------

as mentioned, there's no tccra that weekend, so i might ease on up.

Posted by: taraker---------------------

I'll be there and so will jdrobins. JDR will be there to assist StevieBerry in sandwich making while the men ride.

Posted by: will pattison---------------------

i would like pimento cheese on lady fingers, if you don't mind, and make sure to include gherkins on the side and a bit of strawberry soda to drink.

wp.

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

The only time Thump ventures into the woods is to drop kids off at the pool. If you know what I mean.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Now, Now, Yarbonwick, that's not nice Oh, by the way, tell Steviebery Shortstuff I'd like some gatorade

Posted by: Grady---------------------

Well, I guess I should say something before young Stan runs my WHOLE life, I have been told that we are going riding the weekend of July 7 and 8.

Since it is doubtful that we will make the Ill-Noise trip later in the year, this one does sound closer to home.

At this point we are planning on going up Saturday and leaving Sunday afternoon. Does anyone have any ideas on the best gathering area?

We plan on dragging the tent up there, but if anybody else plans on a taking a triple slide, triple axle, Fifth Wheel, complete with Onan Gen, 2 A/C's, ceiling fan and fully stocked frig, let me know, and youg Stan can keep the tent free of critters, and I will join you!

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

Now that's fatherhood at it's finest moment.:D Think he'll make a good pit tootsie?

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Pit tootsie? We'll see who's the pit tootsie at the team Tejas SF, won't we now! BTW...I'll be gone for the next few weeks on vacation, so I won't be on the boards. Don't count me out though...I'll be there fer' sure And StevenB, I'm looking forwand to some good samiches'

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

Be safe Stan.

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

StevieBerryShortcake@PitSally.com

Try it please... A damn responder was setup and only one person has tried it (that I know of). There should be a fairly quick (within 24 hours) response. If it doesn't work let me know.

Just a little hint... Taraker isn't totally responsible (it was a thought of his that sparked the creation of PitSally.com)!

Nominations for member #2 are open. Please provide a resume of the next inductee and a brief description of said inductee that is Kalitically Correct.

I typically go in the 2nd gate and head down towards the large open area either by the oil rigs or in the middle. It has some trees and shade structures, but the nice thing is that it is mostly open space so we could all fit in one area.

-jeffd

Posted by: taraker---------------------

I don't know why everybody always wants to park in the Texas sun in mid July. I think jammin lit cigarettes in your eyes is less painful, but maybe it's just me. I understand this area is open, and that's great when you have a couple of thousand people who need to park, but we are a small group so why don't we meet down by the river where all the nice shady tree's & picnic tables are?

Go in the first gate, turn hard right (south) and drive down to the end of the road. There are lots of shade tree's and a cool breeze off the water is this area. Seems to me that on a hot Texas July day that is the best place to be.

It doesn't matter when you have a great big "Easy Up" shade structure
All that open space makes for a good breeze as well.

It doesn't matter to me...
either place is fine.

-jeffd

Posted by: taraker---------------------

I just like the area down by the river. I think it makes for a cooler day than up on the hill fighting with a easy up that provides 5 sq feet of shade. Also, all the quad jockeys are up on the hill along with the other idiots.

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Oh, and my dad will be there too. Of course he will though, it would be kinda hard to get there without him . Yea either place is cool with me too, but since Taraker feels so strongly about that spot under the trees in the corner, but do you mean the part that's over on the right (from coming down the road), where there's a couple trees, or the part that's down kinda in the hole on the left (kinda over where the little building is)? Shouldn't we have some kind of identification so we know that we're going to the right people?

Look around...if you see someone who isn't talking, it's not Taraker.

(With apologies to Mike Baxter and Ken Murphy)

Posted by: taraker---------------------

Ooooohhhh, the gauntlet has been thrown down. I was wondering who moderating this forum anyway, I saw Gomers name but I didn't know he could read. You guys do realize that the little icon thingy's are for Gomer viewing pleasure.

Gomer, you would love this little section of woods, has that "Deliverance" theme your so familiar with. :scream:

Gomer, Man you hit the nail on the head, TARAKER is always saying something, but the answer after working with him is just do like you do with your kids or spouse and TUNE HIM OUT

Jim

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

I don't mind meeting you guys on the 8th but I can't do Saturday.

Posted by: TexXR---------------------

Hey guys, sorry I didn't see this post earlier. Count me in...either day or both days. I had planned to pull my engine down that weekend and send it out for "refreshing" being that there won't be any more enduros until August, but I'll put it off to the following week.

My riding buddy and I rode Muenster last year when the temp was over 100. We rode until I started to get tunnel vision and his nose started bleeding, then we stopped and cooled off for a while... :scream:

You can always go jump in the river if you get too hot

I am in for both days. Lord knows I am gonna be one sore puppy come Monday :o

I've been there before...rode those woods with Freddie, Tooner, Uwe, and Baxter...how do you think they got that flavor?

I even tried getting the 620 up on the water out where the creek hits the river. I decided against trying the river crossing when I still couldn't get it to plane in 4th gear pinned.

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

Ahh but did you try Bill's woods?

Posted by: taraker---------------------

:scream:

Posted by: blackhawk468---------------------

Hmmm.. This sounds like something I would love to do!!! Count me in if I can get my bike up there for those 2 days.

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Is anybody else bringing the little ones? My little brother, whose 8 years old, wants to come, and I was curious if anybody else is bringing the smaller kids.

Posted by: slo' mo---------------------

I will be bringing my daughter who is 11. So good chance this will also be family oriented.

Posted by: taraker---------------------

Okay, I have it on good authority that jdrobins is the best "Samich Maker" around. Matter of fact, he gave up his ride this past Sunday so he could hang out in the pits & make samiches while the other person rode his bike into the ground.:scream:

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

My wife and kiddos will be starting out their world-tour vacation (of which I will join in on the last week of July) so I will be flying solo for 3 weeks.

I will say that I prefer a "family friendly" atmosphere anyway since that is my modus operandi.

TARAKER, You can make the sandwiches cause I am going to ride with everyone, and when you get done cleaning up, you can get on your little PW50 and putt around on it.

This Sunday 06/24 is Shady Grove day.....

You guys gonna come out & play? Me Thump and Twinny will be the very early....

Posted by: jeffd---------------------

We are talking about it... It would be me and my sons going if we do.

Is the place kid-friendly (and novice-friendly to spodes like me that have only ridden their new YZs twice)?

Are you guys going early before the Yahoos show up?

jeffd

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

We go early to beat the heat and the yahoos!

They have a kids track. It is kid friendly early but will get crowded around 11.

Posted by: taraker---------------------

Check with Thump `bout the kids track.

Posted by: mx547---------------------

where is the kid's track? i've been there a couple of times and i never saw anything that looked like a kid's track. our kids pretty much just rode up and down the creek.

Posted by: TwinSpar---------------------

North East corner of the property. After the longish straight that goes into the right hand berm. Go to the left at the berm.

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

OK guys. Me, and my boss will be there fer sure(at Muenster I mean We'll go up Friday, and leave sunday). I've been on vacation the last two weeks, but am now back(duh:confused: ) I was doing some of my super-duper amazing and exciting bicycle stunts when I er, well, fell down, and sprained both my wrists pretty severely. Almosts two weeks later, they are just now starting to feel better. I'm hoping I can ride in another two weeks. I'm sure I can, but might have to take it a little bit easy and not ride through Bill's woods (I did enough of that LAST time ) Anyways, my dad and I will probably be in a pop-up camper, and will want to be where the electric hookups are, soooo, since there's shade ther(It's down by the old bridge, wher I think someone already suggested) Would that work? Also, I can work up a signup sheet, so we can all sign in

BTW YZGuy.....I hope kids will be OK, I'm only 14 myself

Posted by: yarbonwick---------------------

Jappin' already Stan?

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Well Stan I'm only 15 (be 16 in October ), but what I meant was the younger youngins. I meant little kids that can't really ride with us.

BTW, yarbo and taraker, my dad said he wants to go ride Bill's woods again. He says it's been too long. :scream:

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

YZGuy...I've been riding since I was two(no kidding!) so, I don't mean to be a show-off, but consider myself a pretty talented rider. Until MX enters the picture. I can go at almost race-pace through all of the twisty turny tight trails at Muenster, and know almost all of them by heart, but once MX enters the picture...well...:scream:

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Well I been riding since I was little too, and I suck! :think

I kinda feel like I can ride most everything at Muenster (well a lot of it anyways) but big jumps scare the crap outta me. Go figure. :silly:

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

You fit my riding ability to a tee:scream:

Posted by: yzguy15---------------------

Well just because I can ride it doesn't mean I can ride it neither fast nor gracefully. I still have fun though, and that's what it's all about right?

Posted by: okie426---------------------

Two more in for Muenster on the 7th and 8th.

First guy there put up a DRN sign and arrow so that we all meet at the right place. There is a North gate and South gate you can go into once you pay at the South gate.

See ya'll there!!

:D Okie426 and WRguy(doubleBob)

Thanks for the thread Stan F

Posted by: Stan_Flemmings---------------------

Okie,
Go into the first gate(the one you pay at). Turn right, and go all the way down to the creek(by the showers and bathrooms). The festivities will be held there. Se you then!!
