How much would this bike be worth?

I have the option of buying a 1987 cr250 for $350 as a project bike. Its got a new topend, but I figure it needs clutch kit, kicker gears, ignition cover, sprockets, chain, new tires, fork seals, bearings, etc...

I figure it'll probably cost me $450 for parts to get it a good running bike, totaling me at $800.

I am wondering, how much would a rebuilt, clean and perfect running 1987 cr250 be worth?

Thanks

I would think about $1000.

Its hard to say with the way the two stroke market is now. I sold a perfect condition 1995 kx250 for 1200. It also had a new top end. Look on the auction site, you will see that they dont go for too much these days. Its a shame too.

The investment potential of something is directly related to how important that item is to a group of people. For me an early CR125/250 Elsinore would be worth more than a mid 80's bike, heck a nice early 70's CT70, CR75 or Mini Trail would be worth more than a 80's bike.

The question is:

What's it worth to you? If you are looking to rebuild and sell, you will lose.

If you are looking to build something cool that you can enjoy, then go for it. Don't plan on making any money when you sell it, though. You can probably come up with an aluminum framed CR250 in decent shape for under 1500 bucks if you look hard enough.

Location has a big impact as well.
