Compression for WR250 (2002)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Anyone know what the compression should be for a 2002 WR250F? Also, does it matter how many times you have to turn the engine over before you take the compression reading, or do you just turn it over until the reading won't go any higher?

I would follow Riches advice and plan on a rebuild.
The oil issue is enough of a red flag that doing a compression check wouldn't really give any more indication that a rebuild is in order.

I think I found out what the oil problem was. Still would like to know what the compression should be.

Thanks.

What is the service history like on this bike?
Ever have the top end removed or piston rings replaced?
How do the cam journals look?
Checking compression is a tool that is most applicable to gross interpretations of rebuild faults, imho. If I had any question regarding the service life of the top end I would just bite the bullet and tear it down. I don't really use compression checks as any type of indicator on these new wave four strokes. If there appears to be an issue just pull the top end off of it.
I know I am repeating myself, sorry

being as old as it is its probably about time for a rebuild anyway, I would follow SFO's advice.
