BCS Bowl system

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

If any one on these forums is a college football fan they will recognize how poorly designed the BCS Bowl system is. I agree on the National Title Game but how do you place Kansas in the Orange Bowl over Missouri? Chaos doesn't legitimize ignorance or stupidity of a flawed system.

Bob Hannah could beat any of them.

It's pretty much a total farce. It's TIME FOR A PLAYOFF type deal. Let the best teams play. Am I glad OSU is going to play? Shoot yeah. Do I honestly think they deserve it? Nah, not really. But it's really odd to see 2 loss teams put ahead of 1 loss teams. Wasn't Hawaii still undefeated?

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

The Mizzou thing is REALLY bad. I did enjoy watching OU put them back where they belong (not number 1) , but for them to not get a bowl is unreal. Kansas and Illinois get games and the Tigers don't? Let's face it, Kansas had a "great" season, but played ZERO ranked teams except the one they lost to; Mizzou!

Too much $$ involved to change the system, no way a full on play-off system is coming in our lifetime.

Let me say this so I don't get flamed for being ignorant about football.

"I don't know much about football" but I did watch onlya few minutes of the OK and MO game and one thing that stuck out to me, for the few minutes I watched was that the MO quarterback was trying to be a little selfish and score all by himself. He scrambled for a 1st down, they were in the red zone and he ran the ball 2 more times. I rarely see a quality qb run the ball himself on 3 out of 4 plays. I think they ended up with a FG...........then I watched something else...........obvioulsy its working for them, but it I was a NFL scout I would be leary of this qb from MO

Again, this is just an opinion from an uninformed observer who knows very little about football, but I am a college coach for another sport and I find little success with selfish team members................

Rich, Bob would at least need Chuck Norris on his team. Gotta have someone to throw to. Neither of them are as good as Brett Favre at completing passes to themselves.

Posted by: Rich Rohrich---------------------

OK, Bob Hannah at QB with Chuck as wideout and Ditka as The Coach could whip any of these BCS* teams.

Ditka-497 BCS pretenders-0

*Bitching Crying Sissies

Rich, I'm thinking it's going to be 499-0.

They'll get one safety.

Posted by: Rich Rohrich---------------------

Ok, then the over under will be 498.

'Ol Chase "Boog" Daniel was on the Hiesman chase lol. He really needs to get one of those, because that 5'-9" body he lives in will never make a QB in the NFL.

I was going to say that maybe Chuck would kick a field goal, but I'm afraid that if he tried the football would disintegrate from the force of his roundhouse kick and everyone in the stands would be killed from the shockwave.

That would not do at all.

Maybe not, but Ditka would laugh.

Chuck would eat Ditka, and poop little cute bears for days.

Glad to see all the College Ball fans decided to join the thread.

I love college football but this just sounds like the same crap that guys on sports radio have complained about for a zillion years. Everyone is sure "there" plan is better than the one in place. Same story different day. The only thing missing is the goofy nicknames.

Hi Mike this is Stinky Joe from Orland Park. I'm an unemployed warehouse worker and have some comments on the BSC ........

Could be, but when was the last time anyone agreed on this stuff to any real degree?

MIKEYYYYY, It's the Waz checkin in. We was down at Johnnie's Beef and....NO not Johnnie's on Nort Avnew, we was at Johnnie's over by Melrose. Anyhoo, me Slippery Pete, Uncle Fud, and the The Mighty Mik come up wid a system where everyone will be happy and the Irish can still be Nashnul Champs. So it goes like this .....

Posted by: Jaybird---------------------

Bob, the BCS is a big sham. We all know it. The sportscasters all know it. The players all know it. What is there to discuss? Without a playoff system, the word "Champions" shouldn't even be considered.

BigCrappySham, in the guise of something spectacular and honorable.
How could anyone, who has even half a clue about the deal, call it anything but a contrived event that produces NO champions, and provides zero true stature.
It is not fair to the fans, and above all, not fair to the kids playing.

I think discussing Chucks massive superiority over any Chigagoan, is much more interesting of a talk.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

My bad. I'll refrain from discussing it further. We'll just accept the fact that it's a bad deal and be quiet about it.

Bob - By now you should be used to the fact that we are just a bunch of spastic e-tards.

I was too busy (again) yesterday to respond.

What gets me is the big schools saying there is no way to have a play off system because of $$$$$$, travel, etc.

Funny, all of the 2A schools (and lower divisions) have a play off system that works. Even here in the HoseHead state we have a football play off system that includes ALL teams.

Someone with a little bit of gray matter needs to sit down and figure this out.

XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
your pal,

Mully

Good point. BTW…….go GVSU Lakers!

Oh, and a play off system seems to work out pretty well within the context of the NCAA round ball tourney too.

Yep, just look at the names of the major bowl games and you will see why change is unlikely. When in doubt, follow the money trail.
