i ride a 2002 yamaha wr 250 f it has been in storage for a couple months and now for some unknown reason will not start ive checked fuel flow spark plug and the air box still nothing tired kicking it over last night and it seemed to lose just a little bit of compression i drained the gas out of it tonight and removed the plug to let things dry out ive order a new plug from my local automotive store and itll be here thursday morning with any luck .....does any one have any ideas on what this problem is or could be? maybe bad gas? or a bad plug?

any help or advise would be greatly welcomed
thank you

what plug are you running? try cleaning the carb (make sure your jets arent plugged ), put fresh gas in it and when you go to start it give the throttle a twist or 2 and let off then dont touch the gas and kick'er til she starts

take carb off, drain float bowl, clean jets and everything with carb cleaner, get old gas out of the tank too

kick engine over about 5 times with carb off and plug out, to dry cylinder out

throw it back together, with high octane gas, make sure air filter is clean, make sure dry spark plug is in place

also if you have a heat gun, put it on the sparkplug for a bit and warm the plug best you can before installation, and kick over right away, choked, and throttled

should start just fine

just a tip, not sure how you left it, but run high octane before storage with some stabilizer, and turn off gas and let machine basically conk-out, this will, ensure no fuel will leak into the cylinder, and ensure no gas aging in the system, aka no sludge

sludge = crudded up jets = no fire lol

goodluck buddy, if you do what i said you will have a clean running bike

ive gotten bikes going that have been sitting for over 10 years doing this, works everytime
