Is it worth changing suspensions on a CRF250R 2008?

I was told by multiples sources, that the only modification i should do to my bike, is change the suspension. I was thinking rims or exhaust or piston-piston rims, but not really worth it since I don't really use the full potential of the bike, it would be more for style rather than power. Though suspension seems to me a good idea, though I heard the CRF 2008 have the Damper wich is supposed to be great. I haven't adjusted the fork setting or any setting to my height / weight ( I am 5'9, 165lbs), and i don't know how to do it. I didn't even get my manual yet(the dealer can't find it), so not too sure how to go about tweeking it to my weight / height . Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There's more speed in a good handling bike than a faster engine. From the sounds of your self description I would say that your bike is sprung properly for your weight. Follow your manual and set up your sag. Leave your clickers alone if your not familiar with what they do. Make friends with someone that hauls butt at the track and get some help.

If you ride MX in Florida you will have sandy whooped out straights with slow moving suspension parts. You may end up softening up the compression damping and slowing down the rebound, just a guess. It really depends on your speed and the eye of your helper.

I guess what I mean, is that, is it worth me sending my suspension to someone to make it more "custom" and put performance springs and valves, (got quoted $950 for the job)or should I just get the mechanic where I bought my Honda to adjust my suspensions to my height / weight ? Will it make a HUGE difference I guess is my main question.

Thanks

Well tuned suspension is worth it's weight in gold. You are in the ballpark size wise for the stock equipment so I would start with trying to get the stock stuff setup for you before shelling out big bucks.

Do a search of the forum to learn how to set your sag and then start playing with the clickers from there. I'd be all over my dealer wanting my manual ASAP!

If your just learning how to ride stock valving is a great place to start learning. Like Chili said just adjust your sag and ride.

Get the manual, and get the rear sag set to 4 inches. Tighten or loosen the shock spring. You are the ball park weight for the bike. Valving may need to be done if you are top b or a class.
