Hi,I'm new to the site.
I have just changed my '96 KDX200 for a 2003 KDX220, this came with a FMF Gnarly pipe(stamped 122 020056).I still have the FMF Gnarly pipe (stamped 040 k G35).
I would like to know how these pipe's would work on the 220.

They put more torque at low revs making the bike better on rough trails, you sacrifice a little high end torque to get this. Also improves acceleration.

I use this combo on my KDX220 on single track trails 6500-9500 feet. I also use the 1/4" spacer between the head and the pipe. It brings the pipe into play about 500RPM early, shortens the length of time it takes until the kips opens at 4500RPM. I think the whole show is over about 6000RPM-time to shift. There's really no winding out the motor---it's a torque pipe and works well on tight, rough, steep trails that usually have no run up before you've got to go up! If you like that sort of riding in 1st 2nd & 3rd try a flywheel weight you'll be surprised how it improves traction and smooths out slow rocky trails. Since you have two Gnarly pipes I'd try to trade one for a rev pipe, than you have both.......Dave

I believe he has both, the Rev/Desert pipe (stamped 122 020056 and should be the pipe with the biggest chamber) currently installed on his 220 and the Torque/Woods pipe (stamped 040 k G35) left over from his 200.

I personally have the Woods/Torque pipe on my 220 and like it, but I am not a rev'er and rarely even ride where the KIPS closes.

Your lucky to have both, try them and see what one suits your riding style best.

Thanks guys,I'm using the K35 pipe at the moment, it seems ok(i made a full wrap carbon fibre guard for this one, so would prefer to use it) but I will try the other pipe if our summer arrives this year!
