CRF250 Rearend Bouncing Side to Side

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: mandown310---------------------

I recently purchased a used 04 CRF250 and have rode it about a couple of times without changing or adjusting anything on it besides the oil/filter since I dont know much about them. The bike rode perfect till last week. The rearend of the bike stated to sway/shift and bounce from side to side while the front was perfectly straight and stable when I went through any woops or uneven ground. Through flat gound, the bike rode perfect. I was told it might be my rear suspension. Does any have any ideas or solutions on how to correct this? Appreciate any suggestions/comments.

Check your rear tire pressure.

I lowered the tire pressure somewhat as I was riding sand.

What is your pressure?

You may need to have the shock serviced.

It sounds like your compression, top adjuster, is too soft or your rebound, bottom adjuster, is too quick or both. First thing to do is make sure your sag is correct. It should be about 100mm rider sag with 20mm-30mm of static sag.
