Goofing with the 70-200 (it tends to front focus on the 1Ds).

That's like saying "I wish I had a hammer that would build a house that nice"

Im not talking about the skill of the shot, or photography itself. Im talking about the megapixels.

He means you have a spot on your meter silly. You live too close to the airport, did you shop for it on the weekend?

Ah ha! I thought I cleaned the meter really well.

I thought it would be interesting to see the same shot, spot metered off the belly of the plane to see if it would blow out the sky or not. As wide as the dynamic range is on that camera, I think it could probably pull it off.

I know I'll never get to own one so I wanna see what that thing can do.

A spot meter would give you aq proper exposure of the belly of the plane but the sky would be washed out and some of the photgraphic drama would be lost. Fill flash would do a nice job of creating the contrast that is needed to make the bottom of the plane really stand out while retaining the intensty of the pretty blue sky. The distance to the plane would require about 100 high energy strobes or about 5 pounds of flash powder. Either method would probly draw the ire of the FAA and you would find youself in Gitmo by nightfall.

Here's a spot meter'd version... the plane is more white than the first, but yeah, it's exposed (belly) better.

Also note the weakness of the Sigma 70-200 on the full frame 1Ds ... vignetting at 200mm. Doesn't do that on the 20D. Easy to fix in PS however.

Ahhh good old Luftansa...

The flight of unidentifiable meals, warm pop, rough female german flight attendants, and "happy snacks."

No ice to be served, but all the alcohol you could ever wish for.
