(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

one of my dads buds left his 04 crf250r at my house totally piped out and everything. He let me ride it one day. But when he left I tried to ride it and it wouldnt start. tried everything to get it going,, no dice,, Pulled the valve cover off and the valves are in check.
When I try and kick it, it smells really gassy, I mean really really gassy.
Any suggestions on why it wont start?
I dont have the crazy socket needed for the plug, I think that might be the issue, but any imput would be appreciated.

i don't think you are soppose to touch the gas on those before you start it and you will probaly need to change the plug

The "crazy socket" is a standard spark plug socket, you can even use a deep regular socket. How are you trying to start it? Mine likes one or two blips of throttle, then one or two strong kicks from tdc of comp stroke. Usually doesn't stay running the first time. One blip and one kick after that and she's happy. If you smell gas, turn off the petcock, drain the floatbowl, and kick it a few times with the throttle open. Turn on the gas and wait a minute. Start from step 1 again. Good luck. And I assume you asked if it was OK to ride the bike right?

lol I did.
thanks man, but my regular plug sockets are way to wide to fit down that hole. I have to special order one in!

You are using the wrong size socket then. My memory is fuzzy, but I wanna say 17mm.

It's not a special order socket... It's a 5/8" spark plug socket you can get at any auto parts store.
