I found one for $1800 it has new tires and is in very good shape, includes helmet, chest protector goggles gloves a stand and a ramp. I think its a great deal. Opinions and is there anything I should look for on the bike as far as signs of abuse etc. Thanks.

thats a real good price, my opinion would be that they are selling it because they are leaving the sport, if all that gear goes with it. so im guessing there is little wrong with the bike. check to see if it is clean, the tires as well, air filter, compress the shocks, look for oil leackage around the seal, look for oil anywhere it shouldn't be. RIDE IT! ask to ride it, if they say no, then don't buy. thats all i can think of right now. if it is unclean, also dont buy it. if they cant motivate themselves to clean it before someone goes to buy it, how often do you think they cleaned it when they owned it? how often would they change the plug, tire, air filter? my two bits.

Sounds like a great deal if its in good condition. I'd second all the advice previously given. I own a 2000 KX 250 with some mods and I really like it, though I'm still getting used to some of its quirks. I'm judging from your previous bike you're going to be riding woods, so I'd take a spin on it first. This vintage of KX has a pretty explosive bottom end, much more so that the YZ of the same year I had been riding previously. I'd agree that you should ride it and take note of the high first gear. Is that going to be an issue for you in the woods? I ride some pretty tight woods and I'll admit I'd like a lower first in mine (maybe I should just go faster eh?)......so take that all into account and then buy the bike because its a great bike at a great price
