Damn Yankees Do Lost Trails - June 13-15

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Okay guys - we need our annual ride! Summer wouldn't be the same without starting it off with our annual ride.

How does Lost Trails http://www.ridelosttrails.com/ Fathers' Day weekend (as has become tradition) sound to everyone?

I asked Dan to hook us up with links to camping in the area.

So, what do ya'll say?!

Let's ride!

Attendee List

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

can I fly there?

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Theres a few campsites close to Lost trails, I believe these are the two closest, if they dont have what you want, let me know and I'll see what else is around.

Four Seasons is the closest campground I believe, less than 5 minutes away, but not sure if they have tent sites.

Mt Pocono Campground is about 10-15 minutes away.

The pocono 500 is the week before Fathers day, there are no races Fathers day weekend, so it shouldnt be a problem to get reservations.

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

I have some friends that own a motel right on Lake Wallenpumpack in Tafton. Tafton, PA 18464
http://www.poconopinesmotorinn.com/
Place has a pool, lake access, bar across the street, and group cabins as well. We could book a cabin or two maybe? Its about 30 miles away though. Great folks, love to hang out and drink beer late into the night. My kind of people.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

That seems a bit pricey for a weekend, I'd rather pay the camping money...unless of course you can get us a deal?

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

One more campsite thats also about 5 minutes away...

WT Family Camping

Also for discounts at Lost Trails, with 8 people its $30, 15 its $28.
We just finished a 2 1/2 mile loop of single of single track today, and a 10 mile loop should be done in another week or 2.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Sweet! I'm going to research this week and figure out which campground would be best...I'll post and let everyone know where we decide!

Thanks Dan!

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Damn, I can't make it

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Is there another weekend that's better for anyone? Nothing's set in stone here...

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

With the new house I'm going to be hit and miss all summer. I'm having an addition added on and we have the normal clean up, painting, etc to do. Plus i imagine there will be a lot or arranging of furniture going on

Don't plan on anything around me...if I make it, I make it.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Why do you need an addition on a house you just bought?

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

He rides a yellow bike, do you need to even ask?

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

Posted by: Shaw520---------------------

This sounds good, put us on the slate. It'll be Shaw520 and Shaw520 Jr, and hopefully a couple others.
In the rules section it says insurance is required, we are NY ATV registered, but not insured,.. is this going to be a prob???

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Okay I'll add everyone who says they're going to the initial post...

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

ooo ooo add me...add me

Shaw, they do require liability insurance(registration isn't required). Your Home-Owners insurance may cover you, some policiys actually will. If its not possible for you to get insurance, send me a PM or an email, and I'll see if something can be worked out with park. In NJ we have to have the insurance before we can even register them.

Seems the whole world has gone crazy when it comes to insurance/ORV registrations, ect..... Without trying to be sarcastic Scooter, Id love to know why my homeowner's insurance would cover me & my son personally, while riding DB's in PA,????? But none the less, it wouldnt hurt to ask.

Thats a good question, and I honestly cant answer it.... but even though it doesnt make sense, I do know of people who are covered for liability on their dirtbikes through their homeowners insurance. Maybe somebody else can explain how that works.

Its not always broken.... do blown fork seals count?

We have a pull in New Castle on that saturday but will see what i can do. Peggy may just go to that and i can goto the ride. Of course i could lure her to the Poconos and their casino.

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

Yeah Im in. Just let me know where we are staying.
Just a thought, does an AMA membership insure you anyway while riding?

Got it ! Thanks Scooter, should we get a campsite nailed down, maybe get a group rate, any suggestions?

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Final update on list of campgrounds....

WT Family Camping

Mt Pocono Campground

Four Seasons Campgrounds

Pocono Vacation Park (Fathersday weekend they have Karaoke night listed on their acivities schedule )

Posted by: Shaw520---------------------

WT looks good, but Im open for suggestions. Close to the riding area is a big plus.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

all 4 are less than 15 minutes from the park.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

We should definitely get a campground nailed down - I'm up for inexpensive and definitely something with toilets and showers.

Rooster and I are tent campers so it doesn't really matter to us where we go.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Where is everybody for this ride? Theres gotta be more people interested.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

I would hope that there would be! I took Friday off so Rooster and I are going to travel on Friday and we'll probably be there early afternoon - but we won't ride until Saturday.

Anyone have a preference on the campground?

Posted by: Treejumper---------------------

Not sure on if i can make it or not yet. Work doesnt give me squat for notice on where i will be each week and what days i have off. I maybe quiting them soon so it wont matter as the other job would have weekends off. Plus i dont know how i will get my bike there yet, sold the truck and dont have a carry rack for the blazer or camper yet. I can imagine the look i would get from peggy if i put it in the camper.

So i'll have to wait til closer to the date to let you know my status. Any camp ground will do.

Dan, you think they'll look closely at the insurance? I have insurance on my street bike and dad has it on his quad but i dont on the bike.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

Just a note on campgrounds, The owners at Lost trails have been getting input from people who have been camping. they recomend Mount Pocono Campground They have been told that the other campgrounds around tend to be rude when they see bikes and atvs on trailers. But at Mt pocono, they tend to be much more friendly towards riders.

Posted by: sick 96 250---------------------

this is the one thing I miss not being back east, the groups rides with all you people. Def some good times. Everyone be safe on the trails, wish there was a big group here in AZ to kick it with and listen to crazy stories at the camp fires.

Ah yes, Now theres the insentive we were looking for

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

Well guys I hate to be a party pooper here, especially since I started this thread, but it looks like Rooster and I are not going to be able to make this one. With the price of gas, plus the cost to ride at Lost Trails and pay to camp, we're sticking with trips around our area for riding this summer. We've already paid to register our bikes in MA and it's good for the entire season, so we're just going to do that.

Everyone who does go, have a great time!

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

You're a poo poo head.

This coming from Mr "I just bought a house that was too small so I cant make it because I have to sit in my recliner, drinking beer, and watch the people put an addition on it"

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

OK, I'm a poo poo head then. I'll have a beer for you.

Uhhhh, let me as a silly question, so is anyone riding the spring ride?

If not Im gonna hit bonners I think.

I know gas is WAY up but if you think about the $ most of you have invested in your bikes, gear, Trucks, and trailers, the differance between $2.75 / gallon and $4 a gallon on the trip is probaly less than % 0.5 .

Posted by: Trigger1911---------------------

Trigger is out, maybe fall

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Well, is this ride still on???? I might make it for Saturday but I can mow my lawn instead if no one's coming.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

I had thought by the lack of replys over the past few weeks that the ride was probably off. Either way, I will be there on Saturday as usual if anybody wants to ride.

Posted by: squeaky---------------------

We can't make it...

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

I won't be coming this Saturday but will try next weekend (6/21). Dan, I'll let you know.

Posted by: scooter1130---------------------

ok I will be there next weekend too, might even have a free pass for you.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

Cool

I want to try out my new GPS on the trail too. I used it for my vacation trip to VA Beach but I want to try it out on the trail. Do you have some trails that I can upload into my unit? It a Garmin 60CSX.

Posted by: JasonJ---------------------

Me and Gordon and company will be up at 8B's Sat. Meeting at the mini mart on 924 right off 81 at 10 AM rolling at 11. We will be parked in the hollow by 81.

I see Neal is hitting the MX park July 5 too. Nice guy, good rider.
