rear shock question/problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

the rear shock on my 98 200 compresses about an inch or less when I sit down, but it feels like it needs to go more. It just suddenly stops. It doesn't gradually stop, it acts like something is stopping it from going further. When you stand on the pegs and jump up and down, it goes further down. If it matters it has been sitting on a stand for a couple of weeks with the back wheel off. Any thoughts?

Binding linkage or shock bearing.

Or swingarm.

how hard is it to replace the bushings/bearings? I'm pretty good with a wrench, I just don't have a lot of spare time.

The bearings may just need a good cleaning and some grease. I do mine twice a year for normal maintance and after an Enduro if I happen to submerge the ol' girl.

I got it all apart and they are beyond cleaning. They are rusted so bad that one didn't even look like a bearing until I blew it out with air. Thanks for the tip.

Lol, I kind figured you might find that. Looks like you'll be doing some new bearings!
