A friend of mine gave me a cool little 4x4 12v dc fan. I was thinking about hooking it up to the back of my radiator to help out on those really hot rides. I don't know much about electricity though. Would I hook up the black wire to the frame somewhere (like on a car?) Where should I connect the red wire? I've got an old light switch I was going to use to turn it off and on. Is there more to it than that? CAn it be wired up to work? I just don't want to mess up anything on the bike or burn up the fan. Oh, it's a 2005 220...THX

I'd think you could hook up to the headlight power. The headlight is 35 watt. If the fan pulls more than that, you may damage your stator.
Use an old car battery to see what wire does what on the fan, a meter to find appropriate power on the bike.

You might want to just keep thinking about it.......

I've not had overheating problems on my 220, and it gets HOT down here in Lower Alabama.

A buddy had one on a KTM520. Nothing but trouble for him, and it was designed for his bike.

I don't think hooking it up to the headlight wiring because the bike is making AC voltage, and the fan probably requires DC. you could always hook up a full wave rectifier and then the fan. Not too hard to do, but I'd want to know the wattage of the motor before I hooked ran it.
