Im looking into getting a scooter for getting around town and using my truck for dirtbike, winter and miscallaneous use. Both are priced at about 3000 new just wondering if anyone had opinions on these little gas misers. And I just read Okie's thread about trading in the gas guzzler and its surprising but still haha.

Make sure you save enough to pay for the dress you'll need while riding it.

you could probably get by a little cheaper with a skirt and maybe a puffy shirt, Rich. Or I guess that would be a blouse.

I saw one of these in the lot a work recently. If I had to ride a scooter, this would be the one.

dunno Badgerman. I think the step-through style works better with the skirts/dresses.

I think you are incorrect......scroll down the page and note the lovely brunette demonstrating.

Based on the photos, these scooters are guaranteed to be chick magnets!

$1499, but it's 110 cc makes it over the 50cc for mopeds, which in WA I think over 50cc needs to be registered.

Honda has been all out of 08 Ruckus's for a while now... If you can find one your pretty lucky, but a price tag of $3000 is pretty high. Retails at $2200.
(Edit: I see your in Canada, don't know about prices up there)

Ruckus's have intake valve problems. When it has 1000 miles on it and won't start, you will now know why. Gotta keep the air filter in tip top shape. But stock they probably are the fastest moped out there, hits 40-41.

I'm not a big fan of Yamahas, the Hondas are much more simple and practical imo.
With all mopeds, the carbs have to stay clean or it will make a huge difference! If you let it sit for more then a couple weeks, you will have to clean the carb.

Go with a Metropolitan, even though they are basically same engine as the ruckus's, they havn't had the valve problems the ruckus's have. Guys metro that I know goes 53MPH!

Pluss the make the metros with pink flowers to match your dress!

When I am in the mood to wear a skirt, I hop on my '99 Yamaha Zuma, (I am not sure what the letter designation is.)

I bought it new, to have a small street legal bike to take to tracks that do not allow unlicenced pit bikes. If you can drive a car in the pits, I can ride my Zuma. The oversize, balloon tires work great in soft, muddy conditions.

I also used it as a kids training bike; my girls (and dozens of other young kids,) learned throttle & front brake control by sitting in front of me on the scooter. Once they can drive my big butt around, unaided by me, they have no problem on the small XR/CRF of their choice. I've taught a lot of kids to ride this way; something I truely enjoy!

Cabot, I don't know what you have against the Yamahas, but their Zuma and Vino lines are some of the most popular scooters out there. Very reliable, solid performers. In 9 years of ownership, and some 900 + miles, I have only replaced 2 batteries (my fault, not charging,) cleaned the carb. twice, (again, my fault,) and rebuilt the front Brembo (yes, Brembo is stock,) brake system, (normal maintenance.)

I don't know if anyone saw the "Greg's Garage" segment, on Speed TV, a few years back, when they rode 2 Zumas across the country. They only had one problem the entire trip.

My stock, 9 y.o. Zuma hits 40 with ease, accelerating hard from a standing start, and will do 45 with a tailwind or small hill. The hard accceleration does smmetimes intimidate a novice rider a bit. It really gets up and goes! There are all kinds of hop up parts out there, if someone wants more performance out of any of the Yamaha 2-strokes.

I usually wear my open-face trials helmet, but that pink helmet would look mighty 'spiffy' on me, don't you think?

I think I'm going to start measuring power in "possums"
