k my friend has a pw 80 i know its a 2 stroke but he said hes never hit the powerband on it. Does a pw 80 even have a powerband?

Yes, it does. The "powerband" is not a part...you can't really wear it out, break it or replace it, though it can be "changed" (i.e. altered or modified). The powerband is a term referring to the way the engine makes or distributes its power, over the rpm range. An engine that makes increased power over the entire rpm range is considered a "wide" powerband...mostly common to bigger bores. A bike that makes a huge increase in power but over a narrow rpm range (like most small-bores), would be considered a "narrow" powerband.

It won't be very, if at all detectable on the pw. The engine design is for smoothe easy to ride power. The flywheel effect is much greater than an mx bike so that they are less likely to stall. Go to a modern 85 and see the difference in power delivery.

If you haven't done it yet. Take the pipe off and remove the restriction plate that's choking it up at the header. Did that to my buddy's pw80 and it's like a whole new bike!

yeah there is if he just sputters around in a circle all day and parks it up then I'll believe he's never been in his top powerband LOL
