Hey Guys,
I have recently bought myself a Honda CRF250R 2004 and i'm thinking it's about time i dropped the oil... What is the best sort of oil to use for this bike.
Thanks

You can't go wrong with Rotella. Do a quick search or read this......http://www.dirtrider.net/forums3/sh...ad.php?t=146867

I used castrol gtx 10w-40 in mine when temps were from 70-100+ degrees and castrol gtx10w-30 when temps were lower. Bike ran fine with it.

I wouldn't recommend using 10w30. In the cold you want a lower cold temp viscosity. A 0 or 5 weight would be better. The only difference between 10w30 and 10w40 is warm viscosity. You don't want to give anything up here.

Which oil? Trans or engine?

Same oil for both, the crank case and transmission. I'd have to side with using 10w-30 oil though, for colder temperatures. Only because that is what my Honda operators manual states.

For '04 They Recomend Honda Gn4 10w40 Or Hp4 Semi-synthetic For Both Engine And Tranny. But I Believe In Some Cases Synthetic Is Too Slippery For The Clutch. I Use Regular Oil In My Trans And The Hp4 In The Motor For Mx.
