Idle adjustment

I've got a 2007 Xr650R, has only 30 miles on it. My question is sometimes it idles fast and other times it idles fine. Can this be corrected by adjusting the idle screw or is there something else that might be causing this.

Try adjusting your air screw to get a consistent idle and then adjust the idle screw to the proper rpm.

I would also check your valve lash, I have a quad that wouldnt idle any lower than about 3500 rpms before I adjusted them.

Did you buy it new?

Yeah, I bought it new. This doesn't happen all the time only once in a while.
