trouble with bike

ok i have an 05 yamaha yz250f i can start the bike and put it in gear and then i begin to let the clutch out and the bike dies..i did alot of riding last weeekend and it ran fine but when i was trying to take a few spins around the yard i couldnt get it to roll any suggestions to fix this ?

My first guess would be a fuel delivery problem. First, make sure there is gas in the tank. Second, make sure the petcock valve is all the way open. Make sure the hose between the tank and the carburetor hasn't been kinked.
If there are no obvious problems then I would take the gas line off at the carburetor and verify that gas can flow freely.
Other than that, standard tune up things. Try changing the plug (not likely, but worth a shot). Adjust the valves (again, not likely causing the problem). If it still doesn't run, then I would take the carburetor off and clean it really well (the most likely culprit, but also the most work).
If the carburetor has a drain plug on the bottom that you can get off with the carburetor still attached I might try pulling that first. It would be best if you could capture what came out in a jar so you can inspect it. Then verify that gas flows reasonably freely when you turn the gas valve on. I suspect that it won't, which indicates that the float valve is clogged.

Do you have the choke on?
it could cause it to die when a little gas is given..
Does it rev up when it is in neutral?

it revved up in neutral when i started it i thought maybe the throttle was sticking cause i put new grips on not too long ago then i let the choke out and it was fine but i havent cleaned the carb either i changed the oil and put the new air filter in ill try the plug though thanks guys you rock!!
