The slower the economy, the harder I have to work to stay afloat...

BTW, Happy belated B-day Bundy, sorry I missed it.

Tony, call me. Ghost Rider?

Riding season is here, I need to plan a trip that the kids and fam can ride.

Terry, I need to get ahold of you, need some head work.

My kids and I are in full swing with there sports.(which I love) 2 yrs ago, I was racing 3 weekends a month, last year I could only make 8 events. This year only 1 so far. With games on Sat and now Sundays i can't make it out race and get back. I've only been able to run out for solo afternoon trail rides. while I miss it, I love coaching my kids teams.
I m going to try and come out Sat night for the Ghostrider to hang out and work a check on loop 1 Sunday AM. but i have to be back in RSM by 2, so i ll be heading out by 11AM.

That's where I've been. I ll be racing every weekend in Dec and Jan.

I'll see you soon
Tim

Posted by: kelsorat---------------------

I'm riding my street bike. So much easier.

Posted by: fred2---------------------

Howdy from Carlsbad. I've been out for about 6 years only getting in a few rides here and there. I remember an awesome ride with Scar and 89r. I just got my kids crf 50s and we're planning a ride sometime in November.

Can't wait to see you guys again.

I'm actually hoping to do a race sometime. Not sure when or where but it's on the radar.

I went to the "end of the year MX/GP" at GH in Sept ...fell a little behind the old guys in orange helmets....got a little whiskey throttle..did a 180 ..tried to save it.... messed up a knee pretty good. Probably a few more weeks until I can ride again.

But I'm gettin' ready ...

I really think a bunch of you should drive up next spring and meet me in Oregon for a few days. 11 hours drive to Oregon Dunes from So Cal - camp on the beach, ride on the beach and dunes. Then we can drive 2 hours east and ride 150 miles of forest trails near Crater Lake. Seriously guys - if a bunch of you carpool this could be a blast. Let's get this started now so it builds some momentum ...

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

FYI Chris .. the IPAs are just sick up here.

He's around - in fact I saw him lurking on the board earlier today.

I talked to him last week. You should give him a call.

Sure gas should only be $15 per gallon by then.

We'll just hit casinos the whole way up an live off the poker winnings it's the only way to make money these days.

Re the trip, Seriously, I think that'd be cool.I could swing a spring break deal or it'd have to be in July. Anyone else interested?

It's good to hear from you Eric.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

It's about 900 miles from Yorba Linda to the Oregon Dunes. If you got four guys in two pickup trucks, you'd spend about $300 each on gas ($4/gal, 2000 miles round trip, 13 mpg) . The camping and riding are basically free! That's peanuts considering you get a chance to spend quality time with me ....... riding.

Or we could take my truck, 4 guys in one truck would cut the gas (diesel) bill in half!
Although I havent actually rode a bike down them I have seen the trails on the way up to Crater Lake and they look heavenly!
So I vote for yes! Lets get a trip together, the sooner the better!

I was thinking the same thing, except my truck would be a little tighter on space w/ the short bed. I've been getting ~19mpg with bike on the road at around 70ish mph.

So how much time off do we need?
Drive time= straight shot?

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

14 hours per Google maps.

Posted by: thumbs---------------------

14 hours with Bundy farting and Tim's headbanger music has already made me nausious. Chris has no issues other than he drives a bit slow. As for me...I'm a perfect traveling companion.

Posted by: holeshot---------------------

Ok … you guys need to go a bit further north into the city of Vancouver and visit the stripper bars there.

I rented an apartment in downtown Vancouver back in 86 or so … right near the beach and within walking distance of a few stripper clubs (women, ok). I remember the Austin (with a shower show) and the Cecil with the clear plastic half sphere and a little fountain spraying from a hole in the top. I thought that was cool until one of the strippers had a sore on her toe and the spray went near my beer. Eeeeuwwww. Well, I was a bit younger than any of you back then … maybe you’re getting a bit too old for that kind of thing.

Of course ..there are the drawbacks of living downtown near Davie Street. Mixed with fun places are the “alternate lifestyle” people . I still can’t forget the 6 foot chinese guy dressed like a woman, the midget coming out of the gay bar and the shapely woman standing near the elevator with her back to me .. then slowly turning around and revealing a 5 o’clock stubble face.

Vancouver = Canada’s San Francisco. Maybe it’s not such a good idea after all.

Oh wait …. this was about riding? Have a beer for me…… I’ll probably be in Costa Rica or some tropical island.

Posted by: a454elk---------------------

I'm right here, brushing my dog, picking up dog poop, catching bad guys, finding drugs and staying just out of harms way. Looking forward to some riding soon!

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

I should have lied about travel time. I mention 14 hours one-way and this thing just died on the vine.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Is that husky fixed yet? What are you doing on the board? You should be in the garage working on it.

Something about mismatched grips and removing the Eelness taking some time. Not sure what that meant.

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

Lets pick a month for the Oregon ride of ?________? (I couldnt come up with anything clever).

Some of my sources (lumber people) say spring may still be too wet/snowy, so when would be optimum and a time when some of us can go?

Current diesel ~3.00
1800 miles round trip
18 mpg
100 gallons + some extra driving
~$300 spit __ ways
some camping
some Motel 6
some Taco Bell
some Gas-X
Sounds like a trip

Very cheap cabins and tent campsites with direct access ot the Oregon dunes riding areas! Let's make this happen.

Hey Bundy, I'm here sorta, I spend my days doing this, when I'm not working

Not as fast, but still can pucker your butt in a fresh breeze

Posted by: Dirtymotonut---------------------

Eel, hey dude,,,,,, I am just a few hours away. less than 14 hours for sure......We can I unpucker our butts for a great ride with you??? I live in Walla Walla and we all love to ride too! We found a great place 2 1/2hours from there called Baker City Oregon and has all the fun stuff to ride! E-mail me and lets ride!!!gsawyer72@msn.com planning a ride next weekend providing the weather holds. Love to ride!!!!

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

Hmmm, stressful commute there JP.

Hey Eel, what do you think about doing a Fools Gold trip in May? Im sure we can convince the Bundy/ Thumbs clan to make a trip out of it. Im thinking time off of work followed by some Tahoe camping???

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

That could work - it's a little harder on me than Oregon would be distance-wise (since I wouldn't really be carpooling with anyone), but if I do the race and then rent a cabin near the Lake for a few days my sister and her husband could come over from Petaluma, CA and stay with us - that would keep it pretty cheap and would be a lot of fun to race and then swim, cook, visit with you all and my sister, etc.

I like it - that would be great fun. I'm gonna check in with the little lady and I'll let you know. Spread the word to see what everyone else thinks ... good thinking.

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

I want to try and make this for sure and make it a family trip with a day to race for me, if you could come down and we could ride together, that would be a blast!

p.s. I got your message.

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

OK. Making plans on a family camping trip with a race day stop for the Fools Gold, wife is on board. I havent seen a D-36 schedule yet but it looks like the FG has been in May.

Who's in?

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Chris - obviously this is a long way off but I checked with Rhona and she actually was pretty excited about it. So looks like a go on this end!

Only possible hitch is I need to be in Jersey in June for my niece's christening (my bro and his wife are expecting!) - I'm gonna be a godfather! So if the race conflicts, that would be a problem. Otherwise, good to go.

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

Im going to make this happen, need a d-36 09 schedule. Kim dosent want to take the kids out of school to make a week vacation, but I say what could be more educational?

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Cultural enrichment - that's what I'm talking about!
