Kicking over an IT465 and busted the clutch cover and RH crankcase through the engine number, I don't think it kicked back there was just a loud crack. Haven't stripped it yet, (still in shock it's not my bike) is this a common occurence.

You probably got a broken piece of something between the primary kickstart gear and the clutch basket gear, and there is probably more wrong inside. Bummer.

depending on the severity of the crack, you may be able to have the cases re-welded.
best of luck to ya!

I found a link to this on another site so I'll post what I found. The engine had been bored .75mm but was running a std head gasket which the piston was hitting, a silicon sealant had been used in place of the base gasket and the kick start gear which is a pressed dog engagement into the primary driven gear was working its way out and mimicking a clutch drag, all the kick start components were worn.
The RH main case was broken so I welded that with 4043 wire and the Mag clutch cover was broken so welded that with mag wire threw on another clutch basket and reused all the other old components. Genuine base gasket and 2 head gaskets for reliability, starts easy and more than enough power. That was 10 months ago now I'm doing my 425, standard porting on that is way more aggressive than 465 so starting should be easy and can't wait to get laid out by the hit.
