kick start problem

hi there I have a old kx 250. the problem is the kick back is very bad. what can I do to make it kick easier? some people told me to put a thicker head gasket on to lower the compression.

First do a compression test. If the engine is still stock, it shouldn't be compression. Check the stator plate, it might be advanced. The CDI modual could be messed up as well.
