SDG step seat

I just installed the SDG step seat on my 450. This thing fits terrible IMO. At the back of the seat where the 2 metal brackets are I can fit my hand under the seat at the fender. Any one else have this problem? I'm being told that this is normal 
from the place I bought it. Still waiting to here back from SDG.
Just seems to me that for the price the thing should fit 
Anyone else use one of these seats? How does it fit?

Don't you use the brackets off your old seat?

no, its comes with the brackets already attached.
