Headlight, Taillight Question..

I've been told that there is a possibility that using the headlight without a working taillight can burn the headlight bulb out pretty quick. Any actual concern with this on a KDX?
I've been thinking of using a MX rear fender and doing away with the taillight, but want to keep the headlight.
I've seen pictures of this setup and am looking for the details of how it's done.

I dont know for sure but I would bet if you got one of those $15 - $20 voltage regulators Ive seen at parts unlimited of MSR then you wouldnt have any troubles at all.

It has a regulator on it, already, actually. It is the finned (heatsink) unit by the airbox.
