No damping at all - Mid valve blown?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I think I need to replace my mid valve with a check plate. Where can I get a check plate? Also. How do I access the mid valve? I had someone do this once on my other bike and I remember some drilling was involved. I'm a machinist and feel competent in doing this job but just don't know all the steps. Please help

Thanks

Sounds like you could use a service manual. You can find on for your bike on the Australian Yamaha Motors website. I think it's under support.. look around, you'll find it.

You will be WAY better off with a properly functioning midvalve thean a check plate -- believe me !

where and what is the midvalve again?

Is the compression stack the same as a base stack?

The midalve is the "active valve" it is the compession valving that is connected to the damper rod that is actualy traveling through (active ) the fork fluid. there is a mid-valve piston -on one side is the compression valving and on the other side is the rebound valving. This mid-valve valving has a dramatic affect on the damping .
