Gearshift Seal Wr 400F

Have a 98' WR that is leaking oil from the gearshift seal at the case. Is this a common problem? Is this a big or small job, thinking about taking it on myself. Seems easy enough, right?

hey, I thought you said the leak was from the kickstart shaft where it goes through the side case?

I had the same problem on my 98WR.Mud works its way into the seal behind the countershaht sprocket.It is very easy to replace,though.There is a removable bushing w/ an o-ring that needs replaced as well as the seal.
