hey people im new to buying dirt bike and i was wondering if any1 could give me some tips? i found a 1985 it200 on craigslist for $250 all it needs (supposivly) is a clutch kit and a kick starter. I dont know if im being a complete idiot buying this bike but i found a project i would like to work on and its cheap. so please give me some intel if you dont mind

Parts should be expensive, and quite possibly hard to find. With no clutch or kickstarter, you'll never hear it run first either.

Move along. Save up a few hundred more. You can get a modern, running 80 or 125 for less than $1000

I would definitely save up a bit more. You could eventually have $1k getting the bike going when you could have just waited and bought a nice, newer 80 or 125. I paid $800 for my 2000 rm 125. It runs fine but could use some freshening up. But, I have it for friends to ride so its perfect for that.
