Toasting Spark Plugs????

Just got a new 2008 sx250 - have 2 tanks of gas max burned and have gone through 3 spark plugs and the bike seems to be runnin rich!!!

are you mixing at 50 to 1? i think thats what the new ktm 2strokes suggest.

Hey - thanks for the reply.
I'm mixing 60:1 as per the manual.
When I say Rich - I may be wrong in my terminology - I mean seems like the bike is running heavier on oil - can even see where the oil is running out the exhaust!!!

try a hotter spark plug it helped with my bike

that rich has nothing to do with the fuel\oil ratio... itīs the fuel\AIR ratio... jetting it means...

Check out the jetting thread at the top of this forum. What oil are you using? Is the oil recommended to be mixed at 60:1? How does the bike run at various throttle positions? Lean/rich is determined by the fuel/air mixture and not the fuel/oil mixture so more info is needed to help identify the fix. The jetting thread is very helpful and very selfexplanatory. Quite a few members have installed the JD jetting kit with great results.
