(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

How do I know if my rear shock needs to be rebuilt and what are the steps?? I am new to this stuff and any info is appreciated

If it has more than 20 - 25 hrs of riding on the shock oil -- the shock oil needs to be changed . And at this time the bushings , o-rings , seals and coating can be checked out .

Tell someone to ride your bike for a moto. then with out letting the bike cool down go and ride and compare you suspension running cold and running hot.
If you can clearly feel the difference then you defenetly need to change your shock's oil. Generally as Pete said 20-25 hours the oil needs to be replaced, even though i ve seen shock's been serviced after 80 hours with out any major wear.
