Hi! I have this old bike. Apparently its a 79' Yamaha XT 250, but im not so sure! The number on the front is 3Y2-000566. Any help would be great!
Ps. I have a great site for downloading manuals for free, but I'm not able to post links, so just private message me if you want the link.
Here is a pic!: Thanks!!!

Are you sure it's not a 3Y1? I found a site that shows 3Y1 is the XT250, and your serial number would make yours a 1980 model.

Definitely says 3Y2. The sticker on the front(next to the #)is warn out, it MIGHT say 79/80. Its really hard to tell. Keep in mind, im in Canada, if that makes any difference. . .

Just checked your link. And it doesn't even have a 3Y2. . . Thats kinda weird!

Well, the link says they are not 100% accurate, but I've had good luck with that site before.
Sounds like it could be an early production run 1980 model (first year xt250 in the USA). That would mean the frame/manufacture date was 1979.
BTW, if you search google images for xt250 for 1980, 1981, etc.., you might find your exact bike. Maroon was one of the US color choices in 1980, but yours looks red on my montor.

Yup, I think you're right! Mine still has the original front rubber!(according to the pics) Ya, must have been an early production model. On the sticker i can definitely see "79/", but not the other half.
Sweet! Thats some good info! Thanks so much for your help!!!
