Over time i have lost compression in my rear Shock absorber on my CR250 year 2000. would you suggest re-gassing as a trial to see if full compression could be achived. Or just get it re built then re-gassed?

Sounds like it is time for a good rebuild . The oil gets shot and there is an o-ring that is behind the piston band that wears out and lets fluid slip buy .
If the nitrogen (the gas) leaks out , the shock will compress but come back/rebound way slower than usual.
I recommend sending it to MX-Tech .
