i have a ssr125 its a zongshen motor and i was wondering if the crf50 cam is a direct bolt in? it says its a crf50 top end replica but i want to see if any body has done this just to make sure

It has been a long time since I had my Zongshen head apart so I cannot remeber for sure but I believe it uses a "short" (63mm) camshaft where as the XR/CRF50 uses the "long" (73mm)

Here is the camshaft that I believe will work

You will want to dissasemble and measure a few things to be certain though. These pictures/diagrams should help identify what you have.

Hope some of this helps!

Are you SURE it is an actual Zongshen engine or a "like" Zongshen engine in your bike? My experience with SSR is that they get their bikes from several different manufacturers which means a grab bag of suppliers of parts to those manufacturers. The little horizontal single is the engine that powers that part of the world and there are easily 25 different engine suppliers at any point in time, possibly more. Many of these suppliers will even go so far as to have the cases cast with the names of the better known high quality manufacturers!

Be ver sure of what you have before spending the money on what you think you need.

Patman is generally correct. You could have some other manufactures engine in there, but the good news is there are only a few different types of heads that are used since they are all dimensionally copies of different Honda 50/70/90/110 heads available since the early 60's (this is all excluding the KLX style "YX" and "Jialing" heads that are becoming popular today) and only two different lengths of camshafts. The key is to dissasemble and measure to find out what you have then order accordingly. The links provided should get you started and buzz around Dratv's site, lots of good info there. I would also hit up www.planteminis.com as well. There is a ton of info and engine builders over there that have figured out all the tricks and compatibility for these "50" clone engines. For example I have a SSR125 C4 (originally came with a Zongshen) 3 years ago I swapped for a more buildable (at the time, transmission mounted clutch/start in any gear) Jialing 125 put a 140cc BBK, big valve head, Crower G2 cam,and a 24mm OKO carb. I still have my Zongshen and it resides in my CT70 motard conversion.

Here is a picture of my SSR with my modified motor
