i just got a used caliper for my 01 rm80 and the piston just falls up and down with no effort.is this normal when theres no fluid in the caliper or line for pressure.if i put the caliper on the bike will the piston become more harder to move.

No it should not just fall up & down. Does it have a seal on it?

Are you SURE it's the piston and not the little plug inside the piston cavity? It looks like there is a piece that sits in the void from the diagram on Bike Bandit.

Right, the seal should provide a bit of resistance to piston movement.

your right patman i actually just went to the local cycle stop and they pulled up a diagram of the caliper.its def a weird setup.the piston is hollow with a plug that looks like aluminum or plastic that actually pushes the pads..instead of the actual piston this thing that slides inside the piston pushes the pads.im gonna bolt it up and hopefully it wokrs
