Improving braking power on KX250

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi all,

My 1995 KX250's front brake is pretty dire even after a new pad replacement and brake bleed. You have to really grab the lever for the brakes to work and I really hate it! The lever also feels rough to pull, as in not smooth, do you think the master cylinder is at fault here or a combination of rubbish brake technology and worn parts? I was wondering if the master cylinder can be serviced at all as I can see the dust seal around the pushrod (where the lever pushes against) is split, so maybe it's corroded under there? Are there other master cylinders that fit this model as well, i.e. something more reliable and powerful?

Your help is much appreciated!

Dan

Hate to "brake" it to ya, pun intended, but back when I was on a new '98, even with a steel brake line, I was frequently blowing thru my turns...short of big $$$ for a rotor and/or nissin mc, I am not sure how to fix it.
Obviously, you can keep the rotor "roughed up" with a wire brush grinder and this will help a lot, but it only lasts a few hours...
