Where is the CMB track? Whats it like?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Rudydog---------------------

Where is it located? It doesn't say yet on the HS site. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row. Then I'm a gonna run'em over and use'em for traction.

Posted by: Fred T---------------------

CMB track is located at
2148 Klender Rd. Bentley Mi. 48613 or
N43 55.512 W84 11.229

Posted by: Wolverine423---------------------

Its a pretty smooth non demanding track that virtually anyone can roll off the couch into moto gear {all in one move} and win a trophy. Its a must do HS.

Posted by: Rudydog---------------------

Sweet, I never won a trophy.

"pretty smooth-non demanding"

Very funny DW, very funny.

Fred T gave the correct address. Should be easy to find.

Their course was more "open" the first race this year. Very dusty due to the lack of rain. It got pretty beat.

As I understand it....they've added a few tighter sections and a "Euro" section that involves logs and tires a cut-up firewood scattered in a pit of some sort. They also route us through Basils' barn.

Black loamy dirt....sandy too. Good facility and glad they were interested in putting on more events.

NO MX what-so-ever.

Posted by: fatherandson---------------------

Sounds like a great place for an enduro....

Posted by: Rivard809---------------------

Its great trail, just stiffen your suspension a bit cause there is some sharp breaking bumps that will no doubt bottom out a woods-tuned suspension. And it should be a good first HS track for a new racer, my dad is doing his first woods race this weekend. I cant wait to lap him

Posted by: Yam7M---------------------

That's funny Grant! I can't wait 'til my boy gets of the age when he can put it to his old man!

Great track and staff....very glad they continue to support D14 Hare Scrambles.

Thanks Grant, I also liked Battle Creek II

Posted by: 09oneL---------------------

Track of year is still VTR for me, But CMB yesterday was sweet. Ideal conditions

Posted by: Yam7M---------------------

Great Job Freddy T!!!

Points are up. Results not yet. Waiting for BK to bring 'em to me shortly. Becker was on it and emailed me the points already this morning. Those Marine's.......

Now I have to pull out the rule book and look up the rules as they pertain to ties! GREAT year for Freddy T. and your camp!

So, will we see Grant with a 2E on his bike....or an 809A or M?? You'll soon see why not a "C".

I heard it was a rough one! It felt weird not being there....first HS I've missed in over 6 years. Still can't believe my wife wanted me at the hospital that day to watch our son get born....jeez.

Posted by: Fred T---------------------

my foot is getting sore. after battling for 2 laps to secure second place and acked it down I hear what i believed to be a 125 from Lt Team behind me with about 2 miles to go on the last lap so instead of racing him to the finish I let him go by and it was Parrot so I gave second away yeserday, but wait it gets better......had i fought him off I would have secured 2nd in my class for the series too, but noooooooooo I ended up 3rd on the ay and the series. My dumbazz graphics will be on order. Another shot to the foot 2 races in a row. Hope I don't end up so stupid at New Paris enduro on Nov 1.

Fred T.

For a guy with a neck issue who wasn't sure he was going to ride much this year or at all you should be proud of yourself. You did really well. I saw you finnish yesterday right on the heals of the other guy.

Hold your head up!! no pun intended

Thanks for the reality check Fred, see ya at the Banquet.

I liked the "euro cross" section. The fire wood pit was new to me. I wish the barn jump was different, I never really wanted to jump it because of the landing area.

A really crappy deal for Wagner running out of gas, but that is indeed part of HS racing.

I was going to go to another event yesterday and I am sure glad I went to CMB.

Glad you were there also.

What a way to lose a Championship, Ouch!

Could tell I haven't raced since first HS of season. Felt it all the way home!

Fun Event and good trail. Great Job Basil and Crew

Posted by: Yam7M---------------------

Just giving Skippy his props here, but even if Wagner did not run out of gas....he was 1:30 behind Gallt....and a second overall wasn't going to be good enough. Gallt still had the championship with a win. Sounded like he had one of those days riding in the "zone".

Good job Skippy!

No "C" cause if you win a title you have to go A? Im not sure on the rules. And Im leaning towards the light A right now, but those red back grounds do look pretty awesome.... . I learned ALOT yesterday, I followed skippy for a bit on my 5th lap and found some more speed. So who knows.... maybe ill flip a coin or something.

Posted by: Yam7M---------------------

We are lobbying to make just an "A" class and a "B" class. No more light and heavy displacement categories, due to low-turnout. Combining the Light and Heavy (solo Fred, solo.....not opening that can please) classes just makes sense. It's on the website for rule proposals. We said that we would give this new structure a couple of years to gather info....it just makes sense.

No, a rider who wins Z class does not have to go an "A" class.....but YOU should not even attempt to sign up for a "B" level class, Grant. Again, that is a compliment.....not a snub!

809M in white over red backgrounds would look nice tho.....

Posted by: Rivard809---------------------

I know Mark, I dont take any of it as a snub. Im very gracious that you think I should go A !!! I thinking M would be a bit too much for me .... especially being my first year in the 3 hour classes. It sure wold be cool though. Will there be any complaints if I run B in Enduros and A in Hare Scrambles?

And combining the classes sounds like an awesome idea. Hope it goes through!!

Thanks for the support It does make sense. But.....you know...

Anyways, I don't know what to say about the conflict with Enduro's. I really don't think it's an issue....other than in theory only. You'll catch some shat on here probably, but I don't think Tommy D will give you any! Just hand him a beer and start asking questions about the 70's and 80's and he'll forget about what he was talking about!!

I do'nt remember the 80's (too much fun not enough brain power.)but look out if you get me going on the 70's!

You'll be a B rider, only AMA can move you to A officailly. You must earn 100 overall B points and up you go. Or follow Cody Dusendangs lead and win B Hi-point, then A Hi-point and AA Hi-point and then Grand Champion!
No Problems "Sand bagger"

Great Job this year! Welcome to the Woods.

Posted by: Fred T---------------------

Look out! I'm working on his little brother and his dad too. Could be a full on Rivard woods assault in 2010. We will see how the weekend go's when we get them on a trail ride at trail fest. (If dad can walk again by then of course!)

Posted by: Rivard809---------------------

Ok, Thanks Tom!!! I guess I should just save myself some hastle and go to M so I wont have to hear about how im sandbagging in the A class !!! lol. I'll probably go to A in HS and try my hardest for B hi-point in Enduros. And dont expect any transformations from my family inot the woods scene because the only reason I kept riding in them was because of Erin. Plus Blake will be lost with out jumps.

Get them to go to 1 more, the second time out is usually a little more fun you know what to expect....

I had a blast in K class. It was my 3rd 3 hour and all I wanted to do was finish and figure out my cramping problem. I think I was the last guy in, the last lap was all about survival. I had to make a pit stop on the last lap cuz my Camelbak was dry. Now I've at least figured out most of my cramping problems the rest is a complete lack of talent , but I can work on that. I had a blast.

Don't beat yourself up to bad - Maybe all the other guys in your class were cheating....

Posted by: Rivard809---------------------

My dad wants a one hour class to be implemented.

Posted by: Rudydog---------------------

There were only 3 other guys. But yeah you're probably right, 2 of them must of been cheating, I swear I was going really really fast. And you were right I did get a trophy.

Dave,

I want a class for guys that were born between the months of May and August, between 1967 and 1971, who are under 5ft 8 inches tall, that wear clear chest protectors and ride 2005-2007 year bikes only. This class should be no more than 2 hrs 10 minutes long, but no less than 2 hrs 8 minutes long. There can be no logs on the course, and zero quad trail. I would like the class to start at exactly 11:00 a.m. Can you get on this for me?

We need to amend that to 1964 to 1968 and 2002 -2005 bikes. The time seems reasonable.
