Yes...Yes...Yes but not for a couple weeks. Sold our house and the WR is packed away in storage. Should be in the new house middle of next month.

Taking the SM up to GMR tomorrow though. Can you run in front with your lights flashing and clear the way?

Posted by: a454elk---------------------

Yeah sure, whatever Mr. Weather man. Let's do Miller in Novemeber then, let us know when you're free Jeff.

Well.. hmmm .. I had a choice between the poker run at Slash_X or the SRA GP yesterday. I decided on the poker run -ok, ok this is pretty lame for you gnarly go-fasters.

I thought I'd ride my vintage bike ('79 Husy 390 OR) on the first 25 mile loop and the modern dirt cycle the 2nd loop.

1st loop - the 30 year old bike is kinda soft and bouncy. It develops a lean condition a couple of miles in, but I decide to chance it and finish the loop. I carried a tow strap just in case. Suspension collapses when I hit a rock at speed - now I know why there are so many "flying W" pics from the seventies. I must have been floating above the bike. Still...not too bad, considering that this thing is on it's original top end. There were several vintage Husky guys at the run .. they were more than pleased to come over and talk about these bikes as well as other vintage models.

2nd loop - hooray for modern bikes .. the newer bike was a lot more accurate and trustworthy. Thing is, Hondas are like arseholes .... everybody has one. Big deal...

I'm not quite in the grave yet .. but getting close

I managed to get a ride in also. Not quite dirt but it got me out of the apartment.

Just like a typical DRN ride I got my ass handed to me by a senior and a girl. Cant wait to see 89'r and Elk at Miller next month. I will redeem myself.

No actions shots but here is the aftermath at Claro's.

I may make this one. That weekend we have 2 football games early Sat and only one baseball game scheduled Sunday. Mid Nov the Kids season ends and my race season begins again.
Now if I can afford to get there............

Speaking of a senior and a girl.

Hey Jeff.

When did you get the SM?

Posted by: JWW---------------------

I picked it up about 2 months ago. Also grabbed a used set of S wheels. I just need to get some tires. I think it will see more dirt mode than street.

I will be out with family and a few other friends, possibly Bundy and Thumbs.

I'd like to ride after the 7th, I'm tied up till then. I'm planning on meeting some friends out at California City over the turkey day weekend, but I'd like to ride Miller before then if anyone is up for it. Saturday morning is better, let's see how the 14th looks?

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

It's a long ways off, but I am still planning to meet John Gill in Moab the first week of April 2010 for a week long riding trip. It could make for a great Wrecking Crew social.

Posted by: 2strok4fun---------------------

Eric, Ill call you tonight re: Moab. I am planning on it, Im just not sure how fully I can commit at this time.

Posted by: a454elk---------------------

Ok, how's the 21st of Nov sound for a Miller trip? JWW will have his bike out of hawk by then so if you want, I'll post a new ride thread for it.

Sure is great to here tales of riding the vintage iron, have you seen the husky memorial for past district 37 racers? It' a very respectful tribute to the past racing brethren when the dez. was all fair game & OPEN !
Take it easy on the arsholes & riders of red... Need I remind you that the first Huskies that were imported to the states , were indeed RED & silver... colors that honda has used off & on over the years respectfully.
The wrecking crew is alive & well, none of us are that young any more
& don't get out as much as in years gone by, thus conserving wear and tear on body parts that are not new. Remember.. age, deceit & treachery out-duzz youth & exuberance 90% of the time...
When I do get out to ride, my boys are with me & are my main focus...
It's all good, riding with friends & family on a HONDA....
Best RIBBING Regards, Porkchop...
P.S. I knew 3 of the guys on the husky memorial, great men they were&
my heros back in the day...
