Help with 2007 drz250

I purchased a 2007 drz250 from a women yesterday, had about 12 miles on it. She got it serviced about three weeks ago and never turned it on till yesterday before i purchashed it. It started fine and ran good, but the idle starts to jump around when in nuetral or at a stop, it also started leaking fuel, i thought it was the float pin thing so i tapped the carb a bit and now that is fine. But it still idles weird. I need to take it back to the mechanic who worked on it and tell him to fix it, but i do not have a vehical to get it over there. Should i attempt to fix it?
I also had a super noob question about the choke.
It does not go in all the way, or at least i do not think it does.
I tried posting pics, but it will not let me, it says something about spamkiller.
any help would be appreciated, thank.
