Hi all,
I have a 2008 kx450 and was wondering where people are installing hour-meters where they won't get ripped off (if you dump the bike)?
Also I just took my bike out of storage the other day and kick-started it at least a couple dozen times before I figured out that I had to clean the air filter. Once it started a bit of smoke came up from near the front of the bike that smelled like burnt clutch. I'm guessing that this is just some of the starter being burnt? Is it possible that it screwed the clutch a bit?
Thnx.

Your kx450 has an electric starter?
The clutch is submerged in oil and sealed up in the transmission. There's a small vent tube which would be the only place any smoke could get out. That being said I would think it almost impossible to get the clutch to create smoke you could see.
I strap my hour meter to back of the front number plate.

Thnx for the info.
No electric start, just the kick. I'm sure everythings fine I just get kinda paranoid sometimes when I smell burnt-cluctch smell. I'm pretty sure there is just an exhaust leak on the tube that comes out of the engine.
