ok to compress a shock for shipping?

I've got a shock to send in for service, it is ok to compress and hold in place with plastic zip ties, or should I find a larger box?

Is he going to send it back to you the same way? If they are going with the forks, get a 30 dollar gun case from wallsmart, or a reasonable facsimile. Cushy inside! Vintage Bob

just the shock going by itself. If I send forks in again, I actually still have the official MXTech fork boxes from last time.
