Wow, another one. Is Villopodium just luckey or what. His consistant riding style earned him another win. I was hoping to see him battle but...what a get-off for JBS! Was he possesed to claw his way back to mid-pack?

Yeah, JBS's ride back from 20th to the top 10 was epic. Once the cobwebs cleared, he was amazing.

But....throwing it away with the lead...that's classic 'old' Bubba and the kind of thing that keeps his championship count way below where it could be.

I was love/hate on the track. Brutal and a true test, but not a whole lot of close racing.

It's just not Canard's year. He can't buy a break.

Oh- and Blake Baggett simply dominated the Lites. I know Barcia is hurt, but that ride was a statement and elevates Baggett to title condender in both MX and SX Lites. He was flawless.

Good ride for Short, too.

I lol'd at Alessi's 'matador' move with JBS. Alessi must have thought Bubba was lapping him.

Baggett is the real deal. He put on a clinic.

I guess when you knock 2 seconds off everyone else's best time, there is a good reason, sketchy? It bit JBS hard, I sure thought the med crew was going to try stopping him from racing, cut back on the track and get landed on, nope, even the next lap was not slow! Wow, much better with out drama. Just solid racing, and a brutal track. I sure thought the track was going away after the lites, nice prep between motos! And if there is any way to get to Daytona next year, in the RC and Emig College on Monday? Maybe Ralph will show up?

Bubba had a very similar crash a few years ago at Daytona. He must be getting better because I don't think he got back on the bike after that one. I like to see improvement in young new riders.

Honestly, even though I'm a Stewart-disliker, his get-off could have happened to anyone. It didn't happen where he was making time on everyone, where I thought it would. The track just reached up and bit him in the ass. I'm not sure he should have gone back on the track, because those "cobwebs" is what we call a "concussion", and that's not healthy. Dude was riding on pure instinct and got halfway through the pack, but you gotta think long-term so you're not slobbering on yourself over in the corner when you're 30.

Just my 2 cents.

Other notes: Canard is the future, and will be racing for it all against Villopoto, Dungey can't buy a break (well, he can buy a breakdown), Reed keeps on showing how much of a warrior he is and could very well sneak in and win the whole enchilada going head to head for a full season with Stewart, but my money is on Villopoto this year.

Outdoors with Dungey vs. Villopoto is going to be pretty dang awesome this year.

I'm fairly confident we are going to see all the players outdoors this year. Reed has stated they are in and Stewart has made it clear he wants to come back full time. They are already committed to the first four and trying to secure sponsorship dollars to do the rest.

Damn, JBS definitely gets the "Warrior" award this week. That was a NASTY crash... and he looked like a man possessed tearing back through the pack en-route to a top 10 finish.

RV is really tearing it up... If he can avoid an incident like what happend in STL last year, the championship is his.

Would love to see Canard get another win or three this SX season, and I'm confident he will do very well outdoors. Sad to say he's just not going to get the SX title this time, and may have to settle for 5th.

FWIW, my favorite riders of the big 5 are, in order: TC, RV (very close 2nd), RD, CR (distant 4th), JBS.

I'd also love to see Chad and JBS outdoors, too, but wonder if their hearts would be in it for the whole season. Once an SX only rider, it's gotta be tough to leave the mansion and do double motos in the heat of summer.

As to JBS possible concussion, I was thinking the same thing at the time and fully expected the Asterisk guys (who were on the scene instantly) to give him the whole "How many fingers?" routine, or whatever it is they do nowadays. When JBS tried to swing his leg over the busted up fender and fell in a heap, then pulled blindly onto the track after he did get back on, I thought "Uh, oh, he's going to crash again and DNF. Bye bye season." Then he proceeds to put in a very impressive charge and minimize the damage. The determination he exhibited was awesome.

JBS was silly fast at the Daytona race. He was consistantly posting 2 second faster lap times than the other riders "fast laps." It was incredible to see, and he showed that he is indeed the "fastest" rider out there.

Villipoto said it well, though, whenever he said that you don't have to be the fastest, just the smartest. That is normally JBS's downfall, but I can honestly say that this wasn't the case at Daytona. He was just bit by an awkward rut, and that can be the demise of every rider out there.

Man, what an awesome season this has been. The best in a long time...

Bubba's smile keeps making me want to like him, although I'm irritated with his brain-farts. Cobwebs, no doubt... good thing nobody was coming over the double where he pulled out! The guy drives me crazy, but I think he's under such pressure having to support his family and all

Not sure I would count 2 laps before he scattered himself on the ground as "consistently".

Thought I heard his fastest lap was 17 ....
It was another race with James in it for me.

1) Hope he turns it up
2) Hope he doesn't crash, but assume he will at least fall over once.
3) But still pull for Canard and then KDub to do well for the old guys.

It would have been easy to just pull off after that get-off, give the guy props for pressing. Unlike Reed, he can get thru the pack

I've always wondered how many seconds a lap faster RC and McGrath would have been if they were riding at a pace that caused them to wad it up bad once every 5 races or so.

Those dudes could have been really really REALLY fast. Of course, then they might only have a couple of titles to show for it, instead of owning the record books.

No doubt that was an incredible show of heart. As far as his fastest lap it was Lap #2 followed closely by lap #3, he then wadded on lap #4. On lap #7 he was 2 seconds faster than Dungey and RV but I'm guessing they were into lapped traffic at that point as it was just that one lap for both of them and after that James ran similar or slower times pretty much every lap.

I sure thought where he endoed at, was the start of, where he was the only one clearing the big jump-hump, making his 2 second gain? Generally! The next lap he cleared that sucker again!!!! The same one that bit him. Sorry, he gets the Drooling Warrior title of the weekend, Barcia was pushing it also. That must have been 1 hell of a brace! Canard and RV are going to be awesome outdoors. Reed is riding better, even coming through the pack better than he has in a longggg time. Still the loosest screw on the track, and Bubba a close second. I take back my statement about Reed squaring up twice to hit JBS last week, it was 1 smooth curve, and never would have made that corner, or the jumps afterward. JBS made a bad situation a ton worse, vindictive, and lost to 4th, very sad on both accounts. I find it hard to believe it was from the concussion a week ahead of time? By rights, if he had a good bell ringer, he probably should be sitting home till cleared to race again, thank you NFL! I hate yard sales and fleabay way more dot com.

Thanks for the lap time recap, Chili.

As fast as Bubba was post crash, RV probably could have pushed it and lapped him.

If Bubba was 2 seconds a lap faster, RV would not have gotten closer and closer to lapping Bubba as the race went on.

I want to drag race my neighbor on his Polaris quad down the street in front of our houses because I think my TTR230 is faster.... sounds a lot like thinking that JBS is the "fastest" rider.... in 9th place this week.

Looks like the fastest rider this week was the smartest.

Maybe somebody should read "The Tortoise & the Hare" to Bubba.

Outdoors looks to be shaping up to be an interesting season as long as all the main players can keep themselves out of the ambulance. Having more than one guy able to win each week makes for some good action and interesting TV.

Who knows exactly where the segment breaks are at? Clearing that dragon back or what ever, let him be slower at other parts of the track. Reed was coming towards the end, like no other. IF, if's and but's were candy and nuts....

In the real world the winner won the race and the rest fell in behind him no matter how "fast" they might have been at an point in the race.

Dave Despain was saying on windtunnel that a corner worker was flagging Alessi telling him he was getting ready to be lapped by Stewart and that's why he pulled over. If that's the case then I'm surprised there isn't a bigger deal being made of that since he obviously wasn't being lapped.

The most sickening hit I ever saw was after RC ditched his KX250 in the woops and ran back onto the track to remount when he was hit in the helmet by (I think Greg Alby) which spun him round and had him crawl off the track and retire

^^^ RC learned though, JS hasn't yet IMO.

RC, DeCoster, Hannah, Bailey, Ward, Glover... etc, all were champs because they made it to the finish line.

Shoot, even this broken-all-the-bones, arthritic, beat-up old man could hang with Stewart for even a moment or two if I enjoyed riding in ambulances.
