What happened to Shane Watts at Lorretta's

I just watched the GNCC at Loretta Lynns and was shocked to see Shane Watts pull off at a pit stop. He said "his heart just wasn't in it". Whats-up-with-that? Isn't this guy a paid factory rider for KTM? Any info?:think
