Front suspension play??

I just loaded my 93 KX 500 in the truck. After I got it all tied down, I noticed some "wiggle" in the front end. The tire is pressed into the front of the bed so it cant turn side to side, but I can wiggle the handlebars (and clamps and fender) in relation to the tire. It's not much......maybe the end of the handlebars move about a 1/4 of an inch. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if the bushings in the forks are loose enough to cause this. I have a spacer between the tire and the fender to keep the forks from compressing while it's tied down. (helps keep the fork oil from forcing it's way past the seals). Any ideas???
