If anyone is interested in trading their 36m 99-00 carb for the 01 38m carb.

The 38m screams from mid to top but my son needs the bottom. He is a novice rider.

E-mail me at lykins@apex.net

Sorry to bust your bubble, but the carb alone will not bring back your precious bottom end. Try reeds, and porting by Eric Gorr. I have a 36mm TMX from my KX that I might be willing to sell(brand new) if the price is right.

Yea, tha mags allready tried it and they said that they got alittle LESS power on the top and didnt gain anything in the mid or bottom! Go with porting reeds, or a pipe

The top end of this carb is great if you are able to keep it there. My son never even gets there to keep it!

I really don't care if it loses top end speed. I need more response where he rides.

As far as porting; Tom Morgan Racing gets my business. He did a great job on a bored and stroked Yz105 engine I own. The magazines? What makes a writer an expert on motorcycle mechanics. I have never put much stock in them on their technical advice.

I will do it, But we have to make an express exchange so that I do not miss a weekend.

00Kawa125, I really, really don't recommend gong to a 36 on that bike. You will lose top and gain no bottom. You would be much better off with a good prot job( eric gorr bottom end) and a set of carbontech low tension reeds.

I have found out that the throttle tube and Cable are diffrent

So what your are saying is that carb size has no affect?

Posted by: KawieKX125---------------------

No I am not saying that carb size makes no difference, but compensating for the proting in that bike with a smaller carb does not seem to work. MXA says it(ya flame me), but so do other members here (not sure which ones) that is does not work. A reed spacer with low tension reeds will make a huge difference.

I pulled the carb off my buddys 01 yz 125 and swapped it with mine 00 YZ125.

Night and day !!!!

He did not want to give me my carb back, I wanted my carb back. Good thing I did not trade, I did gain some top but it was not worth the low I lost.

He felt a Big Umph in power on the low end and lost just a tad of top and we feel that could have been corrected with jetting.(we left everything stock).

Sorry I will not trade with you now that I see the diffrence but I do reccomend that 36mm carb on your 01.

Thanks for insulting me.:silly: And good to hea that it worked. I was jsut relaying what I had heard from others.

OK men, if you want to argue take it off line. This forum is for selling dirt bike related parts not to argue about what part works best. If you want a solid answer to this, ask Rich.
