Riding around Memphis?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Looks like I might be moving to Memphis, and am wondering about the riding in the area. I don't mind driving a few hours to find trails or tracks, but have heard that trail closures are a major problem

Any thoughts from those in the area?

go to www.memphismotorcycleclub.com

we have race series campouts and all kinds of stuff.

we are over 200 members and have a great group.

there are several motocross and supercross tracks within 1-2 hour drive from memphis.

good luck.

Next go to www.vstarider.com and join the State-wide club. Also see the post "VSTA Loretta Lynn Ride(Tn.) in this Forum.

katoomster, there are few legal public areas left around here. they've either been bulldozed for development, or bulldozed & called "wilderness areas", or just closed. but all is not lost. as lee noted, there are some mx tracks in easy striking distance. memphis motorcycle club also has access to more private land than it can get to (good problem to have). in addition, vsta, as dr bill metioned, has state-wide rides thruout the year and advocates for tn riding areas. email me when (if) you get to town & i'll hook you up.

Lawman, I meant to thank you for all your info. I know I never got in touch with you, but since Bob Colley's place was only a short ride through a few fields, I never went anywhere else. It was so nice to be able to just hop on the bike and ride without loading up and towing the trailer.

Thanks again, and if you ever get out towards SLC, look me up.

hey kx, glad you enjoyed your visit! we're having a hare scramble at that property this coming sun.

i may get to slc, but i'll be scooting around with sticks on my feet instead of riding. have fun!

Nice thing is you can do both out here. The valley stays fairly dry. In fact I didn't get a chance to ski last year because it stayed so warm in the valley that I kept riding.

Anyway, if you want to hit the slopes we can do that too. Like I said, look me up.
