Who is the oldest rider here?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: yzeater---------------------

This seems to be a place filled with fourty somethings. There are many acceptions to that. I know that the acception on the low end is probably around 6 years old, but... WHO IS THE OLDEST?

Posted by: spanky250---------------------

I think XRpredator is 86...

After a hard ride, I feel 86!

I'll be 42 in 3 more months, but I know of a few here older than moi.
Old is relative anywho. It's cousins to sore, tired, aching, and grouchy!:D

Posted by: bake---------------------

47, still dirtybiking and no intentions of stopping. I gotta beleive there are some older than me around here!

Posted by: jamsxr---------------------

---What did he say?? :think

Young people, they must talk in some dang secret code when they aint mumbling.

Sliding down the backside of 48-----Fassssssssst!

Pokie and Mainjet are in the Antique class.

Posted by: Big Tuna---------------------

Interesting topic. I'd also like to know how old you were when you started riding. I'm 29 , and started riding when I was 7; unfortunately when I turned 16 I got sidetracked, license, girls, and all that new found freedom, and stopped riding until last year when I rediscovered my old passion for riding

Posted by: txvintage---------------------

It's not the model year, so much as the mileage, that gets you:silly:

Locked up and power sliding into 39..............

Posted by: calamari racer---------------------

I'm only 42, but I've got a friend I ride with that's 67. He's in great shape and it gives me hope that I can ride another 25 years.

Posted by: ktmboy---------------------

If I see Ol89r post on here, then I'll be willing to fess up. Here's a hint: my 2 oldest are in college.

Posted by: BSWIFT---------------------

Well, I'm riding in the almost 40 class.

Posted by: mx547---------------------

i'm 42. i raced against a guy that was 67 once. he got last but put in a respectable ride (he didn't get lapped). i was impressed.

Posted by: OKKX'er---------------------

Our group includes a guy 55 who rides really well, he rides almost every weekend. His "little" bro rides too, but he's only 51. This guy loves big air,
it's very impressive.

Posted by: dhoward---------------------

42

Posted by: JPIVEY---------------------

48 this Thursday

Posted by: Danman---------------------

I'm not that old, but there are a few in my riding club that I'm pretty sure are 55 or older. One in particular has a 5 or 6 year old grandson that is just starting to race.

Posted by: Rich Rohrich---------------------

Pokie is 60+ and still hauls ass. I think he's on the podium for this

I may have to "86" someone for thinkin' that!

I'm actually on the younger (or middle) end -- 32

86 -- sheesh! :think

Posted by: lawman---------------------

i'm only 42, just a kid, but there is a guy who races enduros in his 60s & i know of a guy who races hs in the A class in arkansas in his 60's; he kicks butt, even beats his own grandkids. there's a guy in our club who's 66; he skydives down to the start of 1 of our races, takes off his 'chute, puts on his helmet, cranks his bike & races. he's not bad, either.

Posted by: Dr.billZ---------------------

43 and I feel 18 when I ride. Love to cook the youngins'

Posted by: Old CR goat---------------------

That's "smoke" the younguns,Doc! SMOKE

Dang, you are old

Posted by: cr250john---------------------

49.5 years old - but I'm sure there are others that are older than me on here.

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

I’m 42. A friend’s dad used to race when he was in his 80’s and put some younger folk to shame. I hope to still be riding well into my 90’s, even if I need training wheels  (hey Woodsrider, can I borrow yours? )

There sure are a bunch of us that are 42

Posted by: taraker---------------------

This is one class Pokie has all sewed up

Posted by: Ol'89r---------------------

Looks like Pokie is the clear winner here. He has 3 years on me.

Ok, ktmBOY? I posted. Time for you to fess up.

Ol'89r

Posted by: JuliusPleaser---------------------

Wow! For once I'm NOT the old fart. At 41, I might even be below median DRN age.

Posted by: FLBob---------------------

54- first enduro '70 or '71' on a AT125 (that would be Yamaha). Very little riding for about 20 years, got stupid and thought work was more important, back at it two years ago but prefer hare scrambles now. No plans to stop soon.

Posted by: oldx---------------------

65 ride Desert with 3 Grandsons 1=26 1=19 1= 12 years old I now have to chase the 26 and the 19 year old.

:think A few more comments like that and you won't make it to 43.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Looks like Pokie lost the top spot! He's not 65 For some reason, I don't think he minds losing in the case

Posted by: ktmboy---------------------

Well 89r', you posted, but you left out your age. Is it that number on your avatar? Well, a promise is a promise: 'ol ktmboy is 44!

ktmboy. That would make me 57. My friends tell me that I will never be as old as I look.:scream: Waddya think they mean by that????

I talked to a friend/mentor of mine yesterday. A guy named Danny Macias. He is not a DRN member, but, he just turned 80 and rides his CR250 in the local forests about twice a month. I have another friend that is about 78 and comes by on his dual sport about once a month.

I was a lot younger when this thread first started. How in the heck did this 8 year old thread revive?

Posted by: Papakeith---------------------

no kidding, I was just starting my thirties when this one got going. Now I'm . . . just starting my thirties

Posted by: RM_guy---------------------

No kidding. I'll be celebrating my 21st anniversary of my 29th birthday this year ...and I'm still riding

Posted by: ws6transam---------------------

2009 will be my first season of dirt riding since 1990, and I'll be 44 in July.

That would be Tonyd75 at 75 years old that bumped this thread. 75, very nice indeed Tony! Coming to 50, it gives me some hope!!! Where did I leave my oatmeal?

Posted by: IndyMX---------------------

I'll be 21 again on Wednesday. Didn't start riding dirt until I was 39

Posted by: wardy---------------------

lol can't even podium in this crowd at 51~!~!

hmmmmmm.

Posted by: VintageDirt---------------------

Someone should resurrect an old thread at least once a month. Sort of a "vintage" DRN, if ya know whadda mean.

Posted by: Kawi4life---------------------

And I was feeling bummed out about being 31....lol.

My brother just retired from 3rd ACR, based out of Ft. Carson. He and I went into the service at the same time, in 1986. He went Army, I went USAF, and got hooked on bikes while overseas. I did 4 1/2 yrs. and he did 22. However I don't think either of us could ever do 62 pushups... Well, maybe him. Certainly not me! However I'm workin' toward it. I'm now doing 40 situps in 60 seconds, and 28 pushups in sixty seconds & that's my best so far. No way will I ever be able to run 2 miles in 15:30 ever again though - My knees are pounded down. You must have some good genes in those joints!

Posted by: Pushin50---------------------

Gotta change my screen name from Pushin50 to Pushed Past 50.

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

I guess since I was 86 in 2001 I'm 94 now.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

We're talkin' age, not height, Sasquatch...

I agree. this is the second one I've chimed in on and just like the other one...it's good stuff!

Kudos to all you guys man. I'm 31 and I hope to say I'm 75 and still riding someday. I grew up a drummer since the age of 4 and have always had that dirtbike bug in me. When I turned 14 my parents gave me the choice of a new drumkit(which I needed) or a new rm80. I chose the drums cuz I was one hella drummer at that age. Rode other peoples dirtbikes...and didn't get my own till I was 26! Late starter and LOVING it!!! I'll never go back. Nothing gets me more than the sound and smell of a two-smoke firing up on a cool spring morning. it's the best. But so is playing for a crowd of 20,000 people!

I won't be able to stand with the "still riding" old guys. But, I'll sure stand behind them.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Well, Pokie is about to be 70 so he must bow down the 75'er .... congrats my friend, you sir are an inspiration.

About Pokie's bike....

The plastic on his 250F is as old and worn as he is.... yes, it's the stock plastic from the first year YZF 250. No new graphics, nadda. Those rad covers are tore-up. There MAY be a piece of white "YZF" OEM graphic here or there.

The rear fender is stock, so many boot drags across it, you could grate cheese. Seriously.

The clutch/brake levers... are you serious? The are perfect 360 circles. He likes 'em that way.

He did get a new rear hub.. no choice. Maybe a little lack of spoke maint. ? Tore the stock hub up big time.

Other than that... it's the Energizer Bunny 250F, spinning lap, after lap, after lap.

You go Pokie.
