Back pain handlebar related?

This just might be in the stupid question category. Far as I know my 97 220 KDX has stock bars. It's new to me. A few trail rides, a couple of H/S's and one enduro. I normally ride standing up a lot - probably more than I should here in the soft sand. I've been getting some lower back pain, forcing me to sit when I don't really feel that whipped otherwise. During the last enduro I decided that my handlebars need changing.
I'm guessing I need a higher bend. I'm 5'-9". Everything feels comfortable as is but this back pain is new with this bike. I don't want to buy a bar I can't use. Wadya think- is a higher bend the way to go?

Lower back pain can be caused by so many other things besides your bike, like age.If you think it's the bars try the Renthal Jimmy Button high bar.that's what I use on my KLX.With the stock bars I felt like I was leaning over to far when I would stand up.I developed lower back pain and discovered that the seat in my work truck didn't support my lower back very well.In your case it may be something as simple as a new office chair or sofa.Hopefully it's nothing worse.

I experienced back pain when riding standing up with the stock bend. I also switched to Jimmy Button bend bars, and now I can stand and ride all day without any discomfort. I no longer feel like I am hunching over to reach the bars when standing, and I also feel like I have much better control of the bike.

I'm 5'10" & repositioned the stock bars a million times hoping to eliminate back pain as I felt I was always leaning down & standing was uncomfortable. CR High bars from TAG fixed everything; well I guess my knees could be better:think
