I was wondering if anybody might know what type of oil that honda puts in both the engine and transmission from the factory I noticed in the owners maual they reccomend a few different oils. But the first couple of oil changes I want to keep the same type in there that came in it before changing.Any help will be appreciated..

Honda did not put the oil in your bike. The oil was added as part of the pre-delivery inspection and assembly, wich was done either by your dealership or a contracted assembly service. It has been my experience from being around the indusrty 20 years, It could be anything from Valvoline 10/40 to Bardahl 30wt. Most of these places buy bulk oil in 55 gallon drums for this type of service and use it in many applications. Read your owners manual cover to cover and use the recomended lube, atleast during break-in. I would also highly recomend you change the filter as well, as your first couple changes will have a fair amount of break-in debris acumalated in them. This is an important time for the sake of your motor to fallow break-in procedures.

Hey,Thanks for the reply the reason I ask the question is becasue there was some type of oil in the bike I noticed it in the window on the shifter side of the motor when the bike was taken out of the crate the mechanic at the shop added Honda GN 4 in there to top it off but I was wondering if that is what came in the engine and trans or if it was the Honda HP 4 synthetic type blend in the engine side of the motor I almost assume it was GN 4 in the trans side of the motor but I just want to be certain.I want to break this motor in right for the best engine life.

Honda DID put oil in the bike just as all the manufacturers now do. This oil may need to be topped off as the bike has been sitting since manufacture with it in. Odds are it is going to be the standard Honda GN4, as Honda doesn't specifiy any sort break in oil.

That "topping off" oil you refer to, will vary wildly from one machine or product to the next. It has been my experience the oil used in a PDI is " rarely" the brand specifically called out in individual manuals.
